Jacob’s Journey Series:

PROSPER WITH A PROVERB

Proverbs 3: 1-12

STAY IN GOD’S TRUTH    Proverbs 3: 1-4

My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,
for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.

SEEK GOD’S GUIDANCE    Proverbs 3: 5-8

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.

Romans 8: 22-23

For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

SHARE GOD’S BLESSINGS    Proverbs 3: 9-10

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; 10 then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.

Psalm 37: 25

I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread.

Luke 6: 38

give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

SUBMIT TO GOD’S DISCIPLINE    Proverbs 3: 11-12

My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline or be weary of his reproof, 12 for the Lord reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights.

Hebrews 12: 7-10

It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.

2 Corinthians 7: 10

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

2 Timothy 3: 16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
