Richard Jones<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-9918-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/09-27-2026.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/09-27-2026.mp3\">http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/09-27-2026.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Absurd Illustration<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 20:27-33 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">27 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0There came to him some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and they asked him a question, saying, \u201cTeacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man\u2019s brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died without children.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And the second<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Afterward the woman also died.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">33 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had her as wife.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Acts 23:8 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.<\/p>\n<p><b>Deuteronomy 25:5-6 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0\u201cIf brothers dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, the wife of the dead man shall not be married outside the family to a stranger. Her husband\u2019s brother shall go in to her and take her as his wife and perform the duty of a husband\u2019s brother to her.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And the first son whom she bears shall succeed to the name of his dead brother, that his name may not be blotted out of Israel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Admonished Teaching<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 20:34-40 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">34 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cThe sons of this age marry and are given in marriage,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">35 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">36 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">37 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">38 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">39 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then some of the scribes answered, \u201cTeacher, you have spoken well.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">40 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For they no longer dared to ask him any question.<\/p>\n<p><b>Matthew 22:29-30 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But Jesus answered them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cYou are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1 Corinthians 15:35-44 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">35 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0But someone will ask, \u201cHow are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">36 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0You foolish person! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">37 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">38 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">39 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For not all flesh is the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">40 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">41 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">42 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">43 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">44 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1 John 3:2 (ESV)<\/b><span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Beloved, we are God\u2019s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Romans 5:1 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Exodus 3:6 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said, \u201cI am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.\u201d And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Arresting Question<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 20:41-44 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">41 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0But he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cHow can they say that the Christ is David\u2019s son?<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">42 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">For David himself says in the Book of Psalms,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201c\u2018The Lord said to my Lord,<\/span> <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cSit at my right hand,<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">43 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">until I make your enemies your footstool.\u201d\u2019<\/span> <span class=\"noindent\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">44 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">David thus calls him Lord, so how is he his son?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Jeremiah 23:5-6 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0\u201cBehold, the days are coming, declares the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span>, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: \u2018The <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> is our righteousness.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><b>Psalm 110:1 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"poetry1\">The <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> says to my Lord:<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">\u201cSit at my right hand,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">until I make your enemies your footstool.\u201d<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Isaiah 9:6 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For to us a child is born, <span class=\"poetry2\">to us a son is given;<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">and the government shall be upon his shoulder,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">and his name shall be called<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Astute Warning<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 20:45-47 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">45 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And in the hearing of all the people he said to his disciples,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">46 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cBeware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">47 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">who devour widows\u2019 houses and for a pretense make long prayers.
