Luke 19: 1-27<\/b><\/h2>\n

A Hated Man<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Luke 19:1-10 (ESV) <\/b>
\n1 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He entered Jericho and was passing through.
\n2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich.
\n3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small in stature.
\n4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way.
\n5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, \u201cZacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.\u201d<\/span>
\n6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully.
\n7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when they saw it, they all grumbled, \u201cHe has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.\u201d
\n8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, \u201cBehold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.\u201d
\n9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus said to him, \u201cToday salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham.<\/span>
\n10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Revelation 3:20 (ESV) <\/b>
\n20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A King’s Trust<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Luke 19:11-14 (ESV) <\/b>
\n11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0As they heard these things, he proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately.
\n12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He said therefore, \u201cA nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return.<\/span>
\n13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas, and said to them, \u2018Engage in business until I come.\u2019<\/span>
\n14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, \u2018We do not want this man to reign over us.\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1 Thessalonians 2:4 (ESV) <\/b>
\n4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.<\/p>\n

A King’s Test<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Luke 19:15-19 (ESV) <\/b>
\n15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When he returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by doing business.<\/span>
\n16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The first came before him, saying, \u2018Lord, your mina has made ten minas more.\u2019<\/span>
\n17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to him, \u2018Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.\u2019<\/span>
\n18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And the second came, saying, \u2018Lord, your mina has made five minas.\u2019<\/span>
\n19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to him, \u2018And you are to be over five cities.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

\n2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.<\/p>\n

A King’s Rebuke<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Luke 19:20-26 (ESV) <\/b>
\n20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then another came, saying, \u2018Lord, here is your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief;<\/span>
\n21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You take what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.\u2019<\/span>
\n22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He said to him, \u2018I will condemn you with your own words, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow?<\/span>
\n23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Why then did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I might have collected it with interest?\u2019<\/span>
\n24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to those who stood by, \u2018Take the mina from him, and give it to the one who has the ten minas.\u2019<\/span>
\n25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they said to him, \u2018Lord, he has ten minas!\u2019<\/span>
\n26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0\u2018I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.<\/span><\/p>\n

A King’s Judgement<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Luke 19:27 (ESV) <\/b>
\n27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
