No one is good except God alone.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">You know the commandments: \u2018Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.\u2019\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said, \u201cAll these I have kept from my youth.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When Jesus heard this, he said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cOne thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Psalm 34:8 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! <span class=\"poetry2\">Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Matthew 19:16-22 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And behold, a man came up to him, saying, \u201cTeacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhy do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He said to him, \u201cWhich ones?\u201d And Jesus said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cYou shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The young man said to him, \u201cAll these I have kept. What do I still lack?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Jesus said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cIf you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A DIFFICULT PATH<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 18:24-27 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Jesus, seeing that he had become sad, said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cHow difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Those who heard it said, \u201cThen who can be saved?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But he said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhat is impossible with man is possible with God.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A DOUBLE BLESSING<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 18:28-30 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Peter said, \u201cSee, we have left our homes and followed you.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cTruly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A DETAILED PREDICTION<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 18:31-34 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And taking the twelve, he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cSee, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">33 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And after flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">34 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But they understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A DETERMINED BEGGAR<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 18:35-43 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">35 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0As he drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">36 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this meant.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">37 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They told him, \u201cJesus of Nazareth is passing by.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">38 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he cried out, \u201cJesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">39 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, \u201cSon of David, have mercy on me!\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">40 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">41 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhat do you want me to do for you?\u201d<\/span> He said, \u201cLord, let me recover my sight.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">42 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cRecover your sight; your faith has made you well.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">43 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Mark 10:46-52 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">46 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And they came to Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">47 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, \u201cJesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">48 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, \u201cSon of David, have mercy on me!\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">49 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus stopped and said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cCall him.\u201d<\/span> And they called the blind man, saying to him, \u201cTake heart. Get up; he is calling you.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">50 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">51 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhat do you want me to do for you?\u201d<\/span> And the blind man said to him, \u201cRabbi, let me recover my sight.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">52 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cGo your way; your faith has made you well.\u201d<\/span> And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A RULER, A DISCIPLE, and A BEGGAR Luke 18: 18-43 by Rev.
