Richard Jones<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-9824-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/07-26-2026.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/07-26-2026.mp3\">http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/07-26-2026.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>A TRUTH OF TWO PEOPLE<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 16:18 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cEveryone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Matthew 19:3-9 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, \u201cIs it lawful to divorce one\u2019s wife for any cause?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He answered, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cHave you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">and said, \u2018Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh\u2019?<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They said to him, \u201cWhy then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cBecause of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Psalm 103:8-14 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The LORD is merciful and gracious, <span class=\"poetry2\">slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He will not always chide, <span class=\"poetry2\">nor will he keep his anger forever.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He does not deal with us according to our sins, <span class=\"poetry2\">nor repay us according to our iniquities.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For as high as the heavens are above the earth, <span class=\"poetry2\">so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0as far as the east is from the west, <span class=\"poetry2\">so far does he remove our transgressions from us.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0As a father shows compassion to his children, <span class=\"poetry2\">so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For he knows our frame; <span class=\"poetry2\">he remembers that we are dust.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>A TALE OF TWO MEN<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Theme of Contrast<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 16:19-21 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cThere was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man\u2019s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Theme of Change<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 16:22-24 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham\u2019s side. The rich man also died and was buried,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And he called out, \u2018Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Revelation 20:11-15 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And if anyone\u2019s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>2 Corinthians 5:6-9 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for we walk by faith, not by sight.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.<\/p>\n<p><b>Philippians 1:23-24 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Theme of Fixed<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 16:25-26 (ESV)<\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">But Abraham said, \u2018Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Theme of Listen<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 16:27-31 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And he said, \u2018Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father\u2019s house\u2014<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">for I have five brothers\u2014so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.\u2019<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">But Abraham said, \u2018They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.\u2019<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And he said, \u2018No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.\u2019<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">He said to him, \u2018If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>John 12:9-11 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Romans 8:35-39 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">35 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">36 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0As it is written, <span class=\"poetry1\">\u201cFor your sake we are being killed all the day long;<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.\u201d<\/span> <span class=\"noindent\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">37 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">38 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">39 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TWO SUBJECTS OF SEPARATION Luke 16: 18-31 by Rev.
