A Pattern of Prayer (Review)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Luke 11:1-4 (ESV) <\/b>
\n1 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, \u201cLord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.\u201d
\n2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, \u201cWhen you pray, say:<\/span> \u201cFather, hallowed be your name.<\/span> Your kingdom come.<\/span><\/span>
\n3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Give us each day our daily bread,<\/span>
\n4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and forgive us our sins,<\/span> for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us.<\/span><\/span> And lead us not into temptation.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A Parable About Prayer<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Luke 11:5-8 (ESV) <\/b>
\n5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, \u201cWhich of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, \u2018Friend, lend me three loaves,<\/span>
\n6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him\u2019;<\/span>
\n7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and he will answer from within, \u2018Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything\u2019?<\/span>
\n8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Principle of Prayer<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Luke 11:9-10 (ESV) <\/b>
\n9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.<\/span>
\n10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV) <\/b>
\n11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD<\/span>, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.<\/p>\n

Hebrews 4:16 (ESV) <\/b>
\n16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.<\/p>\n

A Promise in Prayer<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Luke 11:11-13 (ESV) <\/b>
\n11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent;<\/span>
\n12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?<\/span>
\n13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Matthew 7:9-11 (ESV) <\/b>
\n9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?<\/span>
