And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">39 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord\u2019s feet and listened to his teaching.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">40 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, \u201cLord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">41 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But the Lord answered her, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cMartha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">42 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Psalm 27:4 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0One thing have I asked of the LORD, <span class=\"poetry2\">that will I seek after:<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">that I may dwell in the house of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">all the days of my life,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">to gaze upon the beauty of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">and to inquire in his temple.<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Pattern of Prayer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 11:1-4 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, \u201cLord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhen you pray, say:<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cFather, hallowed be your name.<\/span> <span class=\"JesusWords\">Your kingdom come.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Give us each day our daily bread,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">and forgive us our sins,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\"><span class=\"JesusWords\">for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JesusWords\">And lead us not into temptation.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Psalm 9:10 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And those who know your name put their trust in you, <span class=\"poetry2\">for you, O <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span>, have not forsaken those who seek you.<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Ephesians 1:7 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,<\/p>\n<p><b>James 1:13-14 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Let no one say when he is tempted, \u201cI am being tempted by God,\u201d for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.<\/p>\n<p><b>Psalm 19:13 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; <span class=\"poetry2\">let them not have dominion over me!<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">Then I shall be blameless,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">and innocent of great transgression.<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.
