Richard Jones<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-9520-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/01-04-2026.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/01-04-2026.mp3\">http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/01-04-2026.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Ephesians 6:12-13 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A TORMENTED CONDITION<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 8:26-29 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">26 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When Jesus had stepped out on land, there met him a man from the city who had demons. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he had not lived in a house but among the tombs.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and said with a loud voice, \u201cWhat have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many a time it had seized him. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1 Peter 5:8 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mark 5:1-5 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Mark 3:11-12 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, \u201cYou are the Son of God.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he strictly ordered them not to make him known.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A BOASTFUL COLLECTIVE<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 8:30-33 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Jesus then asked him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhat is your name?\u201d<\/span> And he said, \u201cLegion,\u201d for many demons had entered him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him to let them enter these. So he gave them permission.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">33 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned.<\/p>\n<p><b>2 Peter 2:4 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A FOOLISH CONSIDERATION<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 8:34-37 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">34 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">35 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">36 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And those who had seen it told them how the demon-possessed man had been healed.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">37 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A LOVING COMMAND<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Luke 8:38-39 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">38 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">39 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cReturn to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.\u201d<\/span> And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DEFEAT OF THE DEMONS Luke 8: 26-39 \u00a0by Rev.
