{"id":899,"date":"2013-04-14T15:39:48","date_gmt":"2013-04-14T15:39:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/?p=899"},"modified":"2013-04-14T18:57:23","modified_gmt":"2013-04-14T18:57:23","slug":"the-other-side-of-the-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/?p=899","title":{"rendered":"The Other Side of the Fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Message by Chad Kelly<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/rec0414-113008.mp3\">rec0414-113008<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 align=\"center\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">On The Other Side of the Fire<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<p align=\"center\">Job 23:10<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong><em>If we trust our Father in our trial, we will come out like gold!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job 23:10<\/strong> <strong>(NLT)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>But he knows where I am going.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0\u00a0 Your Loving Father controls the heat as needed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hebrews 12:5-11 (NLT)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy child, don\u201d\u2122t make light of the Lord\u201d\u2122s discipline,<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and don\u201d\u2122t give up when he corrects you.<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>For the Lord disciplines those he loves,<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father? <sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>If God doesn\u201d\u2122t discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children at all. <sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn\u201d\u2122t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever?<\/p>\n<p><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God\u201d\u2122s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness. <sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening\u201d\u201dit\u201d\u2122s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MacDonald<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trials often show up when we\u201d\u2122re not getting what we want.\u00a0 God demonstrates His wisdom and love for us by allowing into our lives what we need\u201d\u00a6And often, the good that God is bringing to our lives can be seen only through the perspective of time\u201d\u00a6Today if we endure, God promises to give us what we need.\u00a0 Tomorrow, in heaven, God promises to give us everything we could ever want and more.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Your Loving Father controls the heat as needed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0\u00a0 Your Loving Father is close to you in your trial.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>God is way bigger than your trial!\u00a0 And He\u201d\u2122s always with you!<\/h3>\n<h3>Psalm 34:18 (NLT)<\/h3>\n<p><sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.<\/p>\n<h3>Psalm 34:18 (MSG)<\/h3>\n<p><sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>If your heart is broken, you\u201d\u2122ll find God right there;<br \/>\nif you\u201d\u2122re kicked in the gut, he\u201d\u2122ll help you catch your breath.<\/p>\n<p>Remember what we saw last week\u201d\u00a6<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cSufficient for you is the grace of Me\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(2 Corinthians 12:9, literal Greek translation)<\/p>\n<p><em>Your Loving Father is close to you in your trial.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Therefore,<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>3.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Trust your Loving Father in your trial.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>1 Peter 4:19 (NLT)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p><sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.<\/p>\n<p>YOU have to make a choice when a trial comes:<\/p>\n<p><em>Will you trust your Loving Father in your trial?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Assuming you answer yes\u201d\u00a6what will that look like?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>HOW do you trust your Loving Father in your trial practically?<\/p>\n<p><strong>BY\u201d\u00a6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Staying<\/em> in the Trial<\/p>\n<h3>James 1:12 (NIV)<\/h3>\n<p><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hebrews 11:6 (NLT)<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MacDonald<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We often treat suffering like a dodgeball game.\u00a0 Anytime anything hard comes at us, we jump out of the way.\u00a0 We spend our whole lives trying to avoid anything that will hurt or be hard.\u00a0 But there\u201d\u2122s a better kind of life\u201d\u201da deeper, more fulfilling kind of life\u201d\u201dthat isn\u201d\u2122t about avoiding every pain.\u00a0 It\u201d\u2122s about finding God faithful and powerful in the midst of whatever trials He allows\u201d\u00a6Perseverance is the funnel through which all Christian virtue flows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trust your Loving Father in your trial.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>BY\u201d\u00a6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Submitting<\/em> to the Trial<\/p>\n<p><strong>MacDonald<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you\u201d\u2122re in a trial now, your constant choice is whether you will embrace or resist what God is doing in your life.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus Himself faced this choice and taught us how to think and pray and act when we face trials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matthew 26:42 (MSG)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My Father, if there is no other way than this, drinking this cup to the dregs, I\u201d\u2122m ready. Do it your way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trust your Loving Father in your trial.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Conclusion<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>If we trust our Father in our trial, we will come out like gold!<\/em><\/strong><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job 42:5 (MSG)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I admit I once lived by rumors of you;<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0now I have it all firsthand\u201d\u201dfrom my own eyes and ears!<\/p>\n<p><strong>James 1:12<\/strong> <strong>(NLT)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation.
