An Edifying Elder<\/strong><\/h3>\n

1 Timothy 3: 1-7<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The saying is\u00a0trustworthy: If anyone aspires to\u00a0the office of overseer, he desires a noble task.\u00a02\u00a0<\/b>Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,\u00a03\u00a0<\/b>not a drunkard, not violent but\u00a0gentle, not quarrelsome,\u00a0not a lover of money.\u00a04\u00a0<\/b>He must manage his own household well, with all dignity\u00a0keeping his children submissive,\u00a05\u00a0<\/b>for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for\u00a0God’s church?\u00a06\u00a0<\/b>He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil.\u00a07\u00a0<\/b>Moreover, he must be well thought of by\u00a0outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into\u00a0a snare of the devil.<\/p>\n
