Richard Jones<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b><u>GOD HAS A PLAN<\/u><\/b><\/h1>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Romans 9: 1-29<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-8546-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/05-05-2024.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/05-05-2024.mp3\">http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/05-05-2024.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>THE ANGUISH OF PAUL<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Romans 9:1-5 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n1\u00a0 I am speaking the truth in Christ\u2014I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit\u2014 2\u00a0 that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3\u00a0 For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. 4\u00a0 They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. 5\u00a0 To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Philippians 1:22-24 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n22\u00a0 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell.<br \/>\n23\u00a0 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.<br \/>\n24\u00a0 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exodus 32:31-32 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n31\u00a0 So Moses returned to the LORD and said, \u201cAlas, this people has sinned a great sin. They have made for themselves gods of gold.<br \/>\n32\u00a0 But now, if you will forgive their sin\u2014but if not, please blot me out of your book that you have written.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exodus 4:22-23 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n22\u00a0 Then you shall say to Pharaoh, \u2018Thus says the LORD, Israel is my firstborn son,<br \/>\n23\u00a0 and I say to you, \u201cLet my son go that he may serve me.\u201d If you refuse to let him go, behold, I will kill your firstborn son.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Genesis 15:18 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n18\u00a0 On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, \u201cTo your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD<\/u><u><br \/>\n<\/u>Romans 9:6-13 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n6\u00a0 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, 7\u00a0 and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but \u201cThrough Isaac shall your offspring be named.\u201d 8\u00a0 This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring. 9\u00a0 For this is what the promise said: \u201cAbout this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.\u201d 10\u00a0 And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac, 11\u00a0 though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad\u2014in order that God\u2019s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls\u2014 12\u00a0 she was told, \u201cThe older will serve the younger.\u201d 13\u00a0 As it is written, \u201cJacob I loved, but Esau I hated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Malachi 1:2-3 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n2\u00a0 \u201cI have loved you,\u201d says the LORD. But you say, \u201cHow have you loved us?\u201d \u201cIs not Esau Jacob\u2019s brother?\u201d declares the LORD. \u201cYet I have loved Jacob<br \/>\n3\u00a0 but Esau I have hated. I have laid waste his hill country and left his heritage to jackals of the desert.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD<\/u><u><br \/>\n<\/u>Romans 9:14-18 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n14\u00a0 What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God\u2019s part? By no means!<br \/>\n15\u00a0 For he says to Moses, \u201cI will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.\u201d 16\u00a0 So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. 17\u00a0 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, \u201cFor this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.\u201d 18\u00a0 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>THE JUSTICE OF GOD<\/u><u><br \/>\n<\/u>Romans 9:19-29 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n19\u00a0 You will say to me then, \u201cWhy does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?\u201d<br \/>\n20\u00a0 But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, \u201cWhy have you made me like this?\u201d 21\u00a0 Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? 22\u00a0 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23\u00a0 in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory\u201424\u00a0 even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles? 25\u00a0 As indeed he says in Hosea, \u201cThose who were not my people I will call \u2018my people,\u2019 and her who was not beloved I will call \u2018beloved.\u2019\u201d 26\u00a0 \u201cAnd in the very place where it was said to them, \u2018You are not my people,\u2019 there they will be called \u2018sons of the living God.\u2019\u201d 27\u00a0 And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: \u201cThough the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved, 28\u00a0 for the Lord will carry out his sentence upon the earth fully and without delay.\u201d 29\u00a0 And as Isaiah predicted, \u201cIf the Lord of hosts had not left us offspring, we would have been like Sodom and become like Gomorrah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job 42:1-6 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n1\u00a0 Then Job answered the LORD and said:<br \/>\n2\u00a0 \u201cI know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.<br \/>\n3\u00a0 \u2018Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?\u2019 Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.<br \/>\n4\u00a0 \u2018Hear, and I will speak; I will question you, and you make it known to me.\u2019<br \/>\n5\u00a0 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you;<br \/>\n6\u00a0 therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong> Matthew 20:1-16 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n1\u00a0 \u201cFor the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2\u00a0 After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3\u00a0 And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4\u00a0 and to them he said, \u2018You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.\u2019 5\u00a0 So they went. Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same. 6\u00a0 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing. And he said to them, \u2018Why do you stand here idle all day?\u2019 7\u00a0 They said to him, \u2018Because no one has hired us.\u2019 He said to them, \u2018You go into the vineyard too.\u2019 8\u00a0 And when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, \u2018Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.\u2019 9\u00a0 And when those hired about the eleventh hour came, each of them received a denarius. 10\u00a0 Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more, but each of them also received a denarius. 11\u00a0 And on receiving it they grumbled at the master of the house, 12\u00a0 saying, \u2018These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.\u2019 13\u00a0 But he replied to one of them, \u2018Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14\u00a0 Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this last worker as I give to you. 15\u00a0 Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me?
