That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, \u201cYou shall not covet.\u201d 8\u00a0 But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead. 9\u00a0 I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. 10\u00a0 The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me. 11\u00a0 For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me. 12\u00a0 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.<br \/>\n13\u00a0 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! But in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 7:6 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n6\u00a0 But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Philippians 3:3-6 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n3\u00a0 For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh\u2014 4\u00a0 though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5\u00a0 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6\u00a0 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong> <u>DIVIDED LIFE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 7:14-25 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>14\u00a0 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin.<br \/>\n15\u00a0 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. 16\u00a0 Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. 17\u00a0 So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 18\u00a0 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19\u00a0 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20\u00a0 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 21\u00a0 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. 22\u00a0 For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, 23\u00a0 but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 24\u00a0 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25\u00a0 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>PATH OF PROGRESS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 8:1-4 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1\u00a0 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2\u00a0 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3\u00a0 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4\u00a0 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Galatians 5:16-18 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n16\u00a0 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.<br \/>\n17\u00a0 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18\u00a0 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Colossians 2:6-7 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n6\u00a0 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,<br \/>\n7\u00a0 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ALL ABOUT GOD (Sermon Series) \u00a0by Rev.
