Richard Jones<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-8094-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/08-27-2023.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/08-27-2023.mp3\">http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/08-27-2023.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>THE ACT OF AN ENEMY<\/u><u><br \/>\n<\/u>Matthew 13:24-30 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n24\u00a0 He put another parable before them, saying, \u201cThe kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, 25\u00a0 but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. 26\u00a0 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. 27\u00a0 And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, \u2018Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?\u2019 28\u00a0 He said to them, \u2018An enemy has done this.\u2019 So the servants said to him, \u2018Then do you want us to go and gather them?\u2019 29\u00a0 But he said, \u2018No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them.\u00a0\u00a0 30\u00a0 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>THE UNUSUAL GROWTH<br \/>\n<\/u>Matthew 13:31-33 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n31\u00a0 He put another parable before them, saying, \u201cThe kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32\u00a0 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.\u201d 33\u00a0 He told them another parable. \u201cThe kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>THE PURPOSE OF PARABLES<\/u> <u><br \/>\n<\/u>Matthew 13:34-35 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n34\u00a0 All these things Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed, he said nothing to them without a parable.<br \/>\n35\u00a0 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet: \u201cI will open my mouth in parables; I will utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>THE MEANING IN THE MESSAGE<\/u> <u><br \/>\n<\/u>Matthew 13:36-43 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n36\u00a0 Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, \u201cExplain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.\u201d 37\u00a0 He answered, \u201cThe one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38\u00a0 The field is the world, and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, 39\u00a0 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels. 40\u00a0 Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. 41\u00a0 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, 42\u00a0 and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43\u00a0 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Galatians 1:6-7 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n6\u00a0 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel\u2014<br \/>\n7\u00a0 not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Peter 2:1-3 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n1\u00a0 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2\u00a0 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3\u00a0 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 Thessalonians 5:20-22 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n20\u00a0 Do not despise prophecies,<br \/>\n21\u00a0 but test everything; hold fast what is good.<br \/>\n22\u00a0 Abstain from every form of evil.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 Corinthians 5:6-8 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n6\u00a0 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?\u00a0 7\u00a0 Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.\u00a0\u00a0 8\u00a0 Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ephesians 2:1-7 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n1\u00a0 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins<br \/>\n2\u00a0 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience\u2014<br \/>\n3\u00a0 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a04\u00a0 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,<br \/>\n5\u00a0 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ\u2014by grace you have been saved\u2014<br \/>\n6\u00a0 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,<br \/>\n7\u00a0 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Colossians 1:13-14 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n13\u00a0 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,<br \/>\n14\u00a0 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WEEDS IN THE WHEAT Matthew 13: 24-43 by Rev.
