And the king said to him, \u201cAre you Ziba?\u201d And he said, \u201cI am your servant.\u201d 3\u00a0 And the king said, \u201cIs there not still someone of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God to him?\u201d Ziba said to the king, \u201cThere is still a son of Jonathan; he is crippled in his feet.\u201d 4\u00a0 The king said to him, \u201cWhere is he?\u201d And Ziba said to the king, \u201cHe is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 Samuel 20:42 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n42\u00a0 Then Jonathan said to David, \u201cGo in peace, because we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, \u2018The LORD shall be between me and you, and between my offspring and your offspring, forever.\u2019\u201d And he rose and departed, and Jonathan went into the city.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Samuel 4:4 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n4\u00a0 Jonathan, the son of Saul, had a son who was crippled in his feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him up and fled, and as she fled in her haste, he fell and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CALLING THE DEJECTED<\/u><u><br \/>\n<\/u>\u00a02 Samuel 9:5-8 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n5\u00a0 Then King David sent and brought him from the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar. 6\u00a0 And Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, son of Saul, came to David and fell on his face and paid homage. And David said, \u201cMephibosheth!\u201d And he answered, \u201cBehold, I am your servant.\u201d 7\u00a0 And David said to him, \u201cDo not fear, for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to you all the land of Saul your father, and you shall eat at my table always.\u201d 8\u00a0 And he paid homage and said, \u201cWhat is your servant, that you should show regard for a dead dog such as I?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>ENRICHING THE DESIRED<br \/>\n<\/u>2 Samuel 9:9-13 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n9\u00a0 Then the king called Ziba, Saul\u2019s servant, and said to him, \u201cAll that belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your master\u2019s grandson.<br \/>\n10\u00a0 And you and your sons and your servants shall till the land for him and shall bring in the produce, that your master\u2019s grandson may have bread to eat. But Mephibosheth your master\u2019s grandson shall always eat at my table.\u201d Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. 11\u00a0 Then Ziba said to the king, \u201cAccording to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so will your servant do.\u201d So Mephibosheth ate at David\u2019s table, like one of the king\u2019s sons.<br \/>\n12\u00a0 And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. And all who lived in Ziba\u2019s house became Mephibosheth\u2019s servants.<br \/>\n13\u00a0 So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, for he ate always at the king\u2019s table. Now he was lame in both his feet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 5:6-8 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n6\u00a0 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.<br \/>\n7\u00a0 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person\u2014though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die\u2014<br \/>\n8\u00a0 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hebrews 12:22-23 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n22\u00a0 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering,<br \/>\n23\u00a0 and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,<\/p>\n<p><strong>Titus 3:3-7 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n3\u00a0 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. 4\u00a0 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5\u00a0 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6\u00a0 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7\u00a0 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ephesians 2:1-7 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n1\u00a0 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins<br \/>\n2\u00a0 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience\u2014<br \/>\n3\u00a0 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a04\u00a0 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,<br \/>\n5\u00a0 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ\u2014by grace you have been saved\u2014<br \/>\n6\u00a0 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,<br \/>\n7\u00a0 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Story of David (Sermon series) \u00a0by Rev.
