Richard Jones<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>DOING THINGS GOD&#8217;S WAY<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2 Samuel chapter 6<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-7857-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/04-23-23.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/04-23-23.mp3\">http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/04-23-23.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>DETERMINATION TO BRING THE ARK<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>2 Samuel 6:1-5 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n1\u00a0 David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2\u00a0 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale-judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the LORD of hosts who sits enthroned on the cherubim. 3\u00a0 And they carried the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. And Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were driving the new cart,<br \/>\n4\u00a0 with the ark of God, and Ahio went before the ark. 5\u00a0 And David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the LORD, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 Chronicles 13:1-6 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n1\u00a0 David consulted with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with every leader.<br \/>\n2\u00a0 And David said to all the assembly of Israel, \u201cIf it seems good to you and from the LORD our God, let us send abroad to our brothers who remain in all the lands of Israel, as well as to the priests and Levites in the cities that have pasturelands, that they may be gathered to us. 3\u00a0 Then let us bring again the ark of our God to us, for we did not seek it in the days of Saul.\u201d 4\u00a0 All the assembly agreed to do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. 5\u00a0 So David assembled all Israel from the Nile of Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim. 6\u00a0 And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim that belongs to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the LORD who sits enthroned above the cherubim.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>TERRIFIED BY THE ARK<\/u> <u><br \/>\n<\/u>\u00a02 Samuel 6:6-11 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n6\u00a0 And when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled.<br \/>\n7\u00a0 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah, and God struck him down there because of his error, and he died there beside the ark of God.<br \/>\n8\u00a0 And David was angry because the LORD had broken out against Uzzah. And that place is called Perez-uzzah to this day. 9\u00a0 And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and he said, \u201cHow can the ark of the LORD come to me?\u201d 10\u00a0 So David was not willing to take the ark of the LORD into the city of David. But David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. 11\u00a0 And the ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months, and the LORD blessed Obed-edom and all his household.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Numbers 4:15 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n15\u00a0 And when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, as the camp sets out, after that the sons of Kohath shall come to carry these, but they must not touch the holy things, lest they die. These are the things of the tent of meeting that the sons of Kohath are to carry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Numbers 7:9 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n9\u00a0 But to the sons of Kohath he gave none, because they were charged with the service of the holy things that had to be carried on the shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>REJOICING BEFORE THE ARK<br \/>\n<\/u>2 Samuel 6:12-15 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n12\u00a0 And it was told King David, \u201cThe LORD has blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.\u201d So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing. 13\u00a0 And when those who bore the ark of the LORD had gone six steps, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened animal. 14\u00a0 And David danced before the LORD with all his might. And David was wearing a linen ephod. 15\u00a0 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the horn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 Chronicles 15:1-3 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n1\u00a0 David built houses for himself in the city of David. And he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it. 2\u00a0 Then David said that no one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, for the LORD had chosen them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister to him forever.<br \/>\n3\u00a0 And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD to its place, which he had prepared for it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 Chronicles 15:11-15 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n11\u00a0 Then David summoned the priests Zadok and Abiathar, and the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab,<br \/>\n12\u00a0 and said to them, \u201cYou are the heads of the fathers\u2019 houses of the Levites. Consecrate yourselves, you and your brothers, so that you may bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place that I have prepared for it. 13\u00a0 Because you did not carry it the first time, the LORD our God broke out against us, because we did not seek him according to the rule.\u201d<br \/>\n14\u00a0 So the priests and the Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.<br \/>\n15\u00a0 And the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the LORD.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 Chronicles 15:25-28 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n25\u00a0 So David and the elders of Israel and the commanders of thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-edom with rejoicing.<br \/>\n26\u00a0 And because God helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams. 27\u00a0 David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as also were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and the singers and Chenaniah the leader of the music of the singers. And David wore a linen ephod.<br \/>\n28\u00a0 So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, to the sound of the horn, trumpets, and cymbals, and made loud music on harps and lyres.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CELEBRATION BECAUSE OF THE ARK<br \/>\n<\/u>2 Samuel 6:16-19 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n16\u00a0 As the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, and she despised him in her heart. 17\u00a0 And they brought in the ark of the LORD and set it in its place, inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. 18\u00a0 And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts 19\u00a0 and distributed among all the people, the whole multitude of Israel, both men and women, a cake of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins to each one. Then all the people departed, each to his house.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Psalm 24:7-10 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n7\u00a0 Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8\u00a0 Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle! 9\u00a0 Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10\u00a0 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>HUMILITY IN RESPONSE TO\u00a0 THE ARK<br \/>\n<\/u>2 Samuel 6:20-23 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n20\u00a0 And David returned to bless his household. But Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, \u201cHow the king of Israel honored himself today, uncovering himself today before the eyes of his servants\u2019 female servants, as one of the vulgar fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!\u201d 21\u00a0 And David said to Michal, \u201cIt was before the LORD, who chose me above your father and above all his house, to appoint me as prince over Israel, the people of the LORD\u2014and I will celebrate before the LORD. 22\u00a0 I will make myself yet more contemptible than this, and I will be abased in your eyes. But by the female servants of whom you have spoken, by them I shall be held in honor.\u201d 23\u00a0 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hebrews 12:28-29 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n28\u00a0 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, 29\u00a0 for our God is a consuming fire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Story of David (Sermon series) \u00a0by Rev.
