Where I am going, you cannot come.\u201d 22\u00a0 So the Jews said, \u201cWill he kill himself, since he says, \u2018Where I am going, you cannot come\u2019?\u201d 23\u00a0 He said to them, \u201cYou are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.<br \/>\n24\u00a0 I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.\u201d John 25\u00a0 So they said to him, \u201cWho are you?\u201d Jesus said to them, \u201cJust what I have been telling you from the beginning. 26\u00a0 I have much to say about you and much to judge, but he who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him.\u201d 27\u00a0 They did not understand that he had been speaking to them about the Father. 28\u00a0 So Jesus said to them, \u201cWhen you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me. 29\u00a0 And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.\u201d 30\u00a0 As he was saying these things, many believed in him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John 1:10-11 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n10\u00a0 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.\u00a0 11\u00a0 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Psalm 116:15 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n15\u00a0 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Acts 2:36-39 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n36\u00a0 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.\u201d 37\u00a0 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, \u201cBrothers, what shall we do?\u201d 38\u00a0 And Peter said to them, \u201cRepent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39\u00a0 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Philippians 2:9-11 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n9\u00a0 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10\u00a0 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11\u00a0 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>ARGUMENT OVER ABRAHAM<br \/>\n<\/u>John 8:31-40 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n31\u00a0 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, \u201cIf you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32\u00a0 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.\u201d 33\u00a0 They answered him, \u201cWe are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, \u2018You will become free\u2019?\u201d 34\u00a0 Jesus answered them, \u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. 35\u00a0 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36\u00a0 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37\u00a0 I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you. 38\u00a0 I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.\u201d 39\u00a0 They answered him, \u201cAbraham is our father.\u201d Jesus said to them, \u201cIf you were Abraham\u2019s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, 40\u00a0 but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CHILDREN OF THE LIAR<br \/>\n<\/u>John 8:41-47 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n41\u00a0 You are doing the works your father did.\u201d They said to him, \u201cWe were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father\u2014even God.\u201d<br \/>\n42\u00a0 Jesus said to them, \u201cIf God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me.<br \/>\n43\u00a0 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44\u00a0 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father\u2019s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45\u00a0 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46\u00a0 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?<br \/>\n47\u00a0 Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>GREATEST OF CLAIMS<br \/>\n<\/u>John 8:48-59 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n48\u00a0 The Jews answered him, \u201cAre we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?\u201d 49\u00a0 Jesus answered, \u201cI do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50\u00a0 Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. 51\u00a0 Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.\u201d 52\u00a0 The Jews said to him, \u201cNow we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, \u2018If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.\u2019 53\u00a0 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?\u201d 54\u00a0 Jesus answered, \u201cIf I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, \u2018He is our God.\u2019 55\u00a0 But you have not known him. I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and I keep his word. 56\u00a0 Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.\u201d<br \/>\n57\u00a0 So the Jews said to him, \u201cYou are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?\u201d<br \/>\n58\u00a0 Jesus said to them, \u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.\u201d<br \/>\n59\u00a0 So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.<\/p>\n<p><strong> 1 Thessalonians 4:13 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n13\u00a0 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to John (Sermon series) \u00a0by Rev.
