All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. 3\u00a0 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst 4\u00a0 they said to him, \u201cTeacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5\u00a0 Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?\u201d 6\u00a0 This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7\u00a0 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, \u201cLet him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.\u201d 8\u00a0 And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. 9\u00a0 But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10\u00a0 Jesus stood up and said to her, \u201cWoman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?\u201d 11\u00a0 She said, \u201cNo one, Lord.\u201d And Jesus said, \u201cNeither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deuteronomy 22:22 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n22\u00a0 \u201cIf a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman. So you shall purge the evil from Israel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0A\u00a0 CLAIM<br \/>\n<\/u>John 8:12 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n12\u00a0 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, \u201cI am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>John 1:4-5 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n4\u00a0 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.<br \/>\n5\u00a0 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isaiah 42:6 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n6\u00a0 \u201cI am the LORD; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CONFLICT<br \/>\n<\/u>John 8:13-20 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n13\u00a0 So the Pharisees said to him, \u201cYou are bearing witness about yourself; your testimony is not true.\u201d 14\u00a0 Jesus answered, \u201cEven if I do bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going. 15\u00a0 You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. 16\u00a0 Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. 17\u00a0 In your Law it is written that the testimony of two people is true. 18\u00a0 I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.\u201d 19\u00a0 They said to him therefore, \u201cWhere is your Father?\u201d Jesus answered, \u201cYou know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.\u201d 20\u00a0 These words he spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple; but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to John (Sermon series) \u00a0by Rev.
