And at Capernaum there was an official whose son was ill. 47\u00a0 When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48\u00a0 So Jesus said to him, \u201cUnless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.\u201d 49\u00a0 The official said to him, \u201cSir, come down before my child dies.\u201d 50\u00a0 Jesus said to him, \u201cGo; your son will live.\u201d The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way. 51\u00a0 As he was going down, his servants met him and told him that his son was recovering. 52\u00a0 So he asked them the hour when he began to get better, and they said to him, \u201cYesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.\u201d 53\u00a0 The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, \u201cYour son will live.\u201d And he himself believed, and all his household. 54\u00a0 This was now the second sign that Jesus did when he had come from Judea to Galilee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>HELPLESS AND STUCK<br \/>\n<\/u>John 5:1-9 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n1\u00a0 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2\u00a0 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has five roofed colonnades. 3\u00a0 In these lay a multitude of invalids\u2014blind, lame, and paralyzed. 5\u00a0 One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6\u00a0 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, \u201cDo you want to be healed?\u201d 7\u00a0 The sick man answered him, \u201cSir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.\u201d 8\u00a0 Jesus said to him, \u201cGet up, take up your bed, and walk.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 9\u00a0 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>SON OVER SABBATH<\/u> <u><br \/>\n<\/u>John 5:10-18 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n10\u00a0 So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, \u201cIt is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.\u201d 11\u00a0 But he answered them, \u201cThe man who healed me, that man said to me, \u2018Take up your bed, and walk.\u2019\u201d 12\u00a0 They asked him, \u201cWho is the man who said to you, \u2018Take up your bed and walk\u2019?\u201d 13\u00a0 Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place. 14\u00a0 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, \u201cSee, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you.\u201d 15\u00a0 The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. 16\u00a0 And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath. 17\u00a0 But Jesus answered them, \u201cMy Father is working until now, and I am working.\u201d 18\u00a0 This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Timothy 4:20 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n20\u00a0 Erastus remained at Corinth, and I left Trophimus, who was ill, at Miletus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 Timothy 5:23 (ESV)<\/strong><br \/>\n23\u00a0 (No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to John (Sermon series) \u00a0by Rev.
