{"id":6811,"date":"2021-08-22T16:15:34","date_gmt":"2021-08-22T20:15:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/?p=6811"},"modified":"2021-08-22T16:16:49","modified_gmt":"2021-08-22T20:16:49","slug":"when-fishing-meets-forgiveness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/?p=6811","title":{"rendered":"WHEN FISHING MEETS FORGIVENESS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.6435-9\/239896776_2956725277915187_4690671080479585058_n.jpg?_nc_cat=102&amp;ccb=1-5&amp;_nc_sid=825194&amp;_nc_ohc=ue1wkEBrevAAX8rZqAT&amp;_nc_ht=scontent-atl3-1.xx&amp;oh=7b9025f04a4c31ebb4843e11f915f9f7&amp;oe=6147100A\" alt=\"May be an image of one or more people and text that says 'WHEN FISHING MEETS FORGIVENESS'\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/rec-08-22-21.mp3\">rec 08-22-21<\/a><\/p>\n<h1><strong>WHEN FISHING MEETS FORGIVENESS<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h1><strong>John 21: 1-19<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>ITCH TO FISH\u00a0\u00a0 John 21: 1-3<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2>After this Jesus\u00a0revealed himself\u00a0again to the disciples by\u00a0the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way.\u00a0<strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Simon Peter,\u00a0Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of\u00a0Cana in Galilee,\u00a0the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.\u00a0<strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Simon Peter said to them, \u201cI am going fishing.\u201d They said to him, \u201cWe will go with you.\u201d They went out and got into the boat, but\u00a0that night they caught nothing.<\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Matthew 28: 10<\/h2>\n<h2>Then Jesus said to them,\u00a0\u201cDo not be afraid;\u00a0go and tell\u00a0my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.\u201d<\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>MIRACLE AT THE BOAT\u00a0\u00a0 John 21: 4-8<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples\u00a0did not know that it was Jesus.\u00a0<strong><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Jesus said to them,\u00a0\u201cChildren, do you have any fish?\u201d\u00a0They answered him, \u201cNo.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>He said to them,\u00a0\u201cCast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.\u201d\u00a0So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish.\u00a0<strong><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>That disciple\u00a0whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, \u201cIt is the Lord!\u201d When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord,\u00a0he put on his outer garment, for he was\u00a0stripped for work, and\u00a0threw himself into the sea.\u00a0<strong><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards\u00a0off.<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Luke 5: 1-11<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by\u00a0the lake of Gennesaret,\u00a0<strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were\u00a0washing their nets.\u00a0<strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon&#8217;s, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And\u00a0he sat down and taught the people from the boat.\u00a0<strong><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,\u00a0\u201cPut out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And Simon answered, \u201cMaster,\u00a0we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And when they had done this,\u00a0they enclosed a large number of fish, and\u00a0their nets were breaking.\u00a0<strong><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them.\u00a0And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.\u00a0<strong><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus&#8217; knees, saying,\u00a0\u201cDepart from me, for\u00a0I am a sinful man, O Lord.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken,\u00a0<strong><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon,\u00a0\u201cDo not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And when they had brought their boats to land,\u00a0they left everything and followed him.<\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>BREAKFAST WITH JESUS\u00a0\u00a0 John 21: 9-14<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2>When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread.\u00a0<strong><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Jesus said to them,\u00a0\u201cBring some of the fish that you have just caught.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn.\u00a0<strong><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Jesus said to them,\u00a0\u201cCome and\u00a0have breakfast.\u201d\u00a0Now\u00a0none of the disciples dared ask him, \u201cWho are you?\u201d They knew it was the Lord.\u00a0<strong><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Jesus came and\u00a0took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish.\u00a0<strong><sup>14\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.<\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>CHALLENGING QUESTIONS\u00a0\u00a0 John 21: 15-17<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>When they had\u00a0finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter,\u00a0\u201cSimon,\u00a0son of John,\u00a0do you love me more than these?\u201d\u00a0He said to him, \u201cYes, Lord; you know that I love you.\u201d He said to him,\u00a0\u201cFeed\u00a0my lambs.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>He said to him a second time,\u00a0\u201cSimon, son of John, do you love me?\u201d\u00a0He said to him, \u201cYes, Lord; you know that I love you.\u201d He said to him,\u00a0\u201cTend\u00a0my sheep.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>17\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>He said to him the third time,\u00a0\u201cSimon, son of John, do you love me?\u201d\u00a0Peter was grieved because he said to him\u00a0the third time,\u00a0\u201cDo you love me?\u201d\u00a0and he said to him, \u201cLord,\u00a0you know everything; you know that I love you.\u201d Jesus said to him,\u00a0\u201cFeed\u00a0my sheep.<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Mark 14: 26-31<\/h2>\n<h2>And when they had sung a hymn,\u00a0they went out to\u00a0the Mount of Olives.\u00a0<strong><sup>27\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And Jesus said to them,\u00a0\u201cYou will all fall away, for it is written, \u201d\u02dcI will\u00a0strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.\u201d\u2122\u00a0<strong><sup>28\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>But after I am raised up,\u00a0I will go before you to Galilee.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>29\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Peter said to him, \u201cEven though they all fall away, I will not.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>30\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And\u00a0Jesus said to him,\u00a0\u201cTruly, I tell you, this very night, before\u00a0the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>31\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>But\u00a0he said emphatically, \u201cIf I must die with you, I will not deny you.\u201d And they all said the same.<\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>1 Peter 5: 1-4<\/h2>\n<h2>So I exhort the elders among you,\u00a0as a fellow elder and\u00a0a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed:\u00a0<strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;\u00a0not for shameful gain, but eagerly;\u00a0<strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>not\u00a0domineering over those in your charge, but\u00a0being examples to the flock.\u00a0<strong><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And when\u00a0the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the\u00a0unfading\u00a0crown of glory.<\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP\u00a0 John 21: 18-19<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2>Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young,\u00a0you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.\u201d\u00a0<strong><sup>19\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>(This he said to show\u00a0by what kind of death he was to glorify God.)
