Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/rec-01-24-21.mp3\">rec 01-24-21<\/a><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Jacob&#8217;s Journey Series:<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h1><strong>PILGRIM WITH A PROMISE<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h1><strong>Genesis 28: 10- 29: 29<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>THE VISION Genesis 28: 10-15<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jacob left\u00a0Beersheba and went toward\u00a0Haran.<strong>\u00a011\u00a0<\/strong>And he came to a certain place and stayed there that night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place to sleep.<strong>\u00a012\u00a0<\/strong>And he\u00a0dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold,\u00a0the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!<strong>\u00a013\u00a0<\/strong>And behold,\u00a0the\u00a0Lord\u00a0stood above it and said,\u00a0\u201cI am the\u00a0Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac.\u00a0The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring.<strong>\u00a014\u00a0<\/strong>Your offspring shall be like\u00a0the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and\u00a0your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.<strong>\u00a015\u00a0<\/strong>Behold,\u00a0I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and\u00a0will bring you back to this land. For I will\u00a0not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.\u201d<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 Samuel 12: 22<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For the\u00a0Lord\u00a0will not forsake his people,\u00a0for his great name&#8217;s sake, because\u00a0it has pleased the\u00a0Lord\u00a0to make you a people for himself.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>THE VOW Genesis 28: 16-22<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, \u201cSurely the\u00a0Lord\u00a0is\u00a0in this place, and I did not know it.\u201d\u00a0<strong>17\u00a0<\/strong>And he was afraid and said, \u201cHow awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.\u201d<strong>18\u00a0<\/strong>So early in the morning Jacob took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up\u00a0for a pillar\u00a0and poured oil on the top of it.\u00a0<strong>19\u00a0<\/strong>He called the name of that place\u00a0Bethel, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.\u00a0<strong>20\u00a0<\/strong>Then Jacob\u00a0made a vow, saying, \u201cIf God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear,\u00a0<strong>21\u00a0<\/strong>so that I come again to my father&#8217;s house in peace,\u00a0then the\u00a0Lord\u00a0shall be my God,\u00a0<strong>22\u00a0<\/strong>and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar,\u00a0shall be God&#8217;s house. And\u00a0of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you.\u201d<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>THE VIEW Genesis 29: 1-8<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Then Jacob went on his journey and came to\u00a0the land of the people of the east.\u00a0<strong>2\u00a0<\/strong>As he looked, he saw a well in the field, and behold, three flocks of sheep lying beside it, for out of that well the flocks were watered. The stone on the well&#8217;s mouth was large,\u00a0<strong>3\u00a0<\/strong>and when all the flocks were gathered there, the shepherds would roll the stone from the mouth of the well and water the sheep, and put the stone back in its place over the mouth of the well.<strong>4\u00a0<\/strong>Jacob said to them, \u201cMy brothers, where do you come from?\u201d They said,\u00a0\u201cWe are from Haran.\u201d\u00a0<strong>5\u00a0<\/strong>He said to them, \u201cDo you know Laban the son of Nahor?\u201d They said, \u201cWe know him.\u201d\u00a0<strong>6\u00a0<\/strong>He said to them, \u201cIs it well with him?\u201d They said, \u201cIt is well; and see, Rachel his daughter is coming with the sheep!\u201d\u00a0<strong>7\u00a0<\/strong>He said, \u201cBehold, it is still high day; it is not time for the livestock to be gathered together. Water the sheep and go, pasture them.\u201d\u00a0<strong>8\u00a0<\/strong>But they said, \u201cWe cannot until all the flocks are gathered together and the stone is rolled from the mouth of the well; then we water the sheep.\u201d<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>THE VISIT Genesis 29: 9-14<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While he was still speaking with them,\u00a0Rachel came with her father&#8217;s sheep, for she was a shepherdess.\u00a0<strong>10\u00a0<\/strong>Now as soon as Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother&#8217;s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother&#8217;s brother, Jacob came near and rolled the stone from the well&#8217;s mouth and watered the flock of Laban his mother&#8217;s brother.\u00a0<strong>11\u00a0<\/strong>Then Jacob kissed Rachel and wept aloud.\u00a0<strong>12\u00a0<\/strong>And Jacob told Rachel that he was\u00a0her father&#8217;s kinsman, and that he was Rebekah&#8217;s son,\u00a0and she ran and told her father. <strong>13\u00a0<\/strong>As soon as Laban heard the news about Jacob, his sister&#8217;s son,\u00a0he ran to meet him and embraced him and kissed him and brought him to his house. Jacob told Laban all these things,\u00a0<strong>14\u00a0<\/strong>and Laban said to him,\u00a0\u201cSurely you are my bone and my flesh!\u201d And he stayed with him a month.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>THE VASSAL Genesis 29: 15-20<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Then Laban said to Jacob, \u201cBecause you are my kinsman, should you therefore serve me for nothing? Tell me, what shall your wages be?\u201d<strong>\u00a016\u00a0<\/strong>Now Laban had two daughters. The name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.<strong>\u00a017\u00a0<\/strong>Leah&#8217;s eyes were weak, but Rachel was beautiful in form and appearance.<strong>\u00a018\u00a0<\/strong>Jacob loved Rachel. And he said,\u00a0\u201cI will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.\u201d<strong>\u00a019\u00a0<\/strong>Laban said, \u201cIt is better that I give her to you than that I should give her to any other man; stay with me.\u201d<strong>\u00a020\u00a0<\/strong>So Jacob\u00a0served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>THE VEIL Genesis 29: 21-29<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Then Jacob said to Laban, \u201cGive me my wife that I may go in to her, for my time is completed.\u201d <strong>\u00a022\u00a0<\/strong>So Laban gathered together all the people of the place and\u00a0made a feast. <strong>23\u00a0<\/strong>But in the evening he took his daughter Leah and brought her to Jacob, and he went in to her.<strong>\u00a024\u00a0<\/strong>(Laban gave his female servant Zilpah to his daughter Leah to be her servant.) <strong>25\u00a0<\/strong>And in the morning, behold, it was Leah! And Jacob said to Laban, \u201cWhat is this you have done to me? Did I not serve with you for Rachel? Why then have you deceived me?\u201d<strong>\u00a026\u00a0<\/strong>Laban said, \u201cIt is not so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.<strong>\u00a027\u00a0<\/strong>Complete the week of this one, and we will give you the other also in return for serving me another seven years.\u201d<strong>\u00a028\u00a0<\/strong>Jacob did so, and completed her week. Then Laban gave him his daughter Rachel to be his wife. <strong>29\u00a0<\/strong>(Laban gave\u00a0his female servant Bilhah to his daughter Rachel to be her servant.)<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Psalm 46: 7<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0Lord\u00a0of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.\u00a0<em>Selah<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Rev.
