OUTSIDE-INSIDE<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Nehemiah Chapters 6-9<\/strong><\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

A TRICK WHICH FAILED\u00a0 \u00a0 Nehemiah 6: 1-4 <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Now when\u00a0Sanballat and Tobiah and\u00a0Geshem the Arab and the rest of our enemies heard that I had built the wall and that there was no breach left in it (although up to that time I had not set up the doors in the gates),\u00a02\u00a0<\/strong>Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, \u201cCome and let us meet together at Hakkephirim in the plain of\u00a0Ono.\u201d But they intended to do me harm.\u00a03\u00a0<\/strong>And I sent messengers to them, saying, \u201cI am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?\u201d\u00a04\u00a0<\/strong>And they sent to me four times in this way, and I answered them in the same manner.<\/span><\/h3>\n

A LIE WHICH FIZZLED\u00a0 \u00a0Nehemiah 6: 5-9<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

In the same way Sanballat for the fifth time sent his servant to me with an open letter in his hand.\u00a0<\/strong>6\u00a0<\/strong>In it was written, \u201cIt is reported among the nations, and Geshem also says it, that you and\u00a0the Jews intend to rebel; that is why you are building the wall. And according to these reports you wish to become their king.\u00a0<\/strong>7\u00a0<\/strong>And you have also set up prophets to proclaim concerning you in Jerusalem, \u201d\u02dcThere is a king in Judah.\u201d\u2122 And now the king will hear of these reports. So now come and let us take counsel together.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>8\u00a0<\/strong>Then I sent to him, saying, \u201cNo such things as you say have been done, for you are inventing them out of your own mind.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>9\u00a0<\/strong>For they all wanted to frighten us, thinking, \u201cTheir hands will drop from the work, and it will not be done.\u201d But now, O God, strengthen my hands.<\/span><\/h3>\n

A DECEPTION WHICH MISSED\u00a0 \u00a0 Nehemiah 6; 10-14<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Now when I went into the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah, son of Mehetabel, who was\u00a0confined to his home, he said, \u201cLet us meet together in the house of God, within the temple. Let us close the doors of the temple, for they are coming to kill you. They are coming to kill you by night.\u201d\u00a011\u00a0<\/strong>But I said, \u201cShould such a man as I run away? And what man such as I could go into the temple and live? I will not go in.\u201d\u00a012\u00a0<\/strong>And I understood and saw that God had not sent him,\u00a0but he had pronounced the prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.\u00a013\u00a0<\/strong>For this purpose he was hired, that I should be afraid and act in this way and sin, and so they could give me a bad name in order to taunt me.\u00a014\u00a0<\/strong>Remember Tobiah and Sanballat, O my God, according to these things that they did, and also\u00a0the prophetess Noadiah and the rest of the prophets who wanted to make me afraid.<\/span><\/h3>\n

AN ACCOMPLISHMENT WHICH SHOWED\u00a0 \u00a0 Nehemiah 6: 15-16<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days.\u00a016\u00a0<\/strong>And\u00a0when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem,\u00a0for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.<\/span><\/h3>\n

A GROUP WHICH SCHEMED\u00a0 \u00a0 Nehemiah 6: 17-19<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0Moreover, in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters to Tobiah, and Tobiah’s letters came to them.\u00a018\u00a0<\/strong>For many in Judah were bound by oath to him, because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah the son of\u00a0Arah: and his son Jehohanan had taken the daughter of\u00a0Meshullam the son of Berechiah as his wife.\u00a019\u00a0<\/strong>Also they spoke of his good deeds in my presence and reported my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to make me afraid.<\/span><\/h3>\n

A VIGILANCE WHICH GUARDED\u00a0 \u00a0 Nehemiah 7: 1-4<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Now when the wall had been built\u00a0and I had set up the doors, and the gatekeepers, the singers, and the Levites had been appointed,\u00a02\u00a0<\/strong>I gave\u00a0my brother Hanani and Hananiah the governor of\u00a0the castle charge over Jerusalem, for he was\u00a0a more faithful and God-fearing man than many.\u00a03\u00a0<\/strong>And I said to them, \u201cLet not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun is hot. And while they are still standing guard, let them shut and bar the doors. Appoint guards from among the inhabitants of Jerusalem, some at their guard posts and some in front of their own homes.\u201d\u00a04\u00a0<\/strong>The city was wide and large, but the people within it were few, and no houses had been rebuilt.<\/span><\/h3>\n

A SCRIPTURE WHICH TAUGHT\u00a0 \u00a0 Nehemiah 7: 73- 8: 3 & 8: 8<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0So the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the temple servants, and all Israel, lived in their towns. And when the seventh month had come, the people of Israel were in their towns. 8\u00a0<\/strong>And all the people gathered as one man into the square before\u00a0the Water Gate. And they told\u00a0Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses that the\u00a0Lord\u00a0had commanded Israel.\u00a02\u00a0<\/strong>So Ezra the priest\u00a0brought the Law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could understand what they heard,\u00a0on the first day of the seventh month.\u00a03\u00a0<\/strong>And he read from it facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law.<\/span><\/h3>\n

8 They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading.<\/span><\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

A WORSHIP WHICH TRANSFORMED\u00a0 \u00a0 Nehemiah 9: 1-3<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a0Now on the twenty-fourth day of\u00a0this month the people of Israel were assembled\u00a0with fasting\u00a0and in sackcloth,\u00a0and with earth on their heads.\u00a02\u00a0<\/strong>And the Israelites[a<\/a>]\u00a0separated themselves from all foreigners and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers.\u00a03\u00a0<\/strong>And they stood up in their place and read from the Book of the Law of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0their God for a quarter of the day; for another quarter of it they made confession and worshiped the\u00a0Lord\u00a0their God.<\/span><\/h3>\n

1 Peter 1: 14-16<\/span><\/h3>\n

As obedient children,\u00a0do not be conformed to the passions\u00a0of your former ignorance,\u00a015\u00a0<\/strong>but\u00a0as he who called you is holy, you also be holy\u00a0in all your conduct,\u00a016\u00a0<\/strong>since it is written,\u00a0\u201cYou shall be holy, for I am holy.\u201d<\/span><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
