Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/rec-08-09-20.mp3\">rec 08-09-20<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>REBUILDING A FUTURE SERIES<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>DRIVEN TO PRAYER\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Nehemiah.\u00a0 Chapter One<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>BAD REPORT\u00a0\u00a0 Nehemiah 1: 1-3<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The words of\u00a0Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Now it happened in the month of\u00a0Chislev,\u00a0in the twentieth year, as I was in\u00a0Susa the citadel,\u00a0<strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>that\u00a0Hanani, one of my brothers, came with certain men from Judah. And I asked them concerning the Jews who escaped, who had survived the exile, and concerning Jerusalem.\u00a0<strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And they said to me, \u201cThe remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and\u00a0shame.\u00a0The wall of Jerusalem is broken down,\u00a0and its gates are destroyed by fire.\u201d<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ezra 4: 11-16<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This is a copy of the letter that they sent.) \u201cTo Artaxerxes the king: Your servants, the men of the province Beyond the River, send greeting. And now\u00a0<strong><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>be it known to the king that the Jews who came up from you to us have gone to Jerusalem. They are rebuilding that rebellious and wicked city. They are\u00a0finishing the walls and repairing the foundations.\u00a0<strong><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Now be it known to the king that if this city is rebuilt and the walls finished, they will not pay\u00a0tribute, custom, or toll, and the royal revenue will be impaired.\u00a0<strong><sup>14\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Now because we eat the salt of the palace<sup>[<\/sup><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ezra+4%3A+11-16&amp;version=ESV#fen-ESV-12125a\"><sup>a<\/sup><\/a><sup>]<\/sup>\u00a0and it is not fitting for us to witness the king&#8217;s dishonor, therefore we send and inform the king,\u00a0<strong><sup>15\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>in order that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers. You will find in the book of the records and learn that this city is a rebellious city, hurtful to kings and provinces, and that sedition was stirred up in it from of old. That was why this city was laid waste.\u00a0<strong><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>We make known to the king that if this city is rebuilt and its walls finished, you will then have no possession in the province Beyond the River.\u201d<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ezra 4: 17-24<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>The king sent an answer: \u201cTo Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe and the rest of their associates who live in Samaria and in the rest of the province Beyond the River, greeting. And now\u00a0<strong><sup>18\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>the letter that you sent to us has been\u00a0plainly read before me.\u00a0<strong><sup>19\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And I made a decree, and search has been made, and it has been found that this city from of old has risen against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made in it.\u00a0<strong><sup>20\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And mighty kings have been over Jerusalem,\u00a0who ruled over the whole province Beyond the River, to whom\u00a0tribute, custom, and toll were paid.\u00a0<strong><sup>21\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Therefore make a decree that these men be made to cease, and that this city be not rebuilt, until a decree is made by me.\u00a0<strong><sup>22\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And take care not to be slack in this matter. Why should damage grow to the hurt of the king?\u201d<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><sup>23\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Then, when the copy of King Artaxerxes&#8217; letter was read before Rehum and Shimshai the scribe and their associates, they went in haste to the Jews at Jerusalem and by force and power made them cease.\u00a0<strong><sup>24\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Then the work on the house of God that is in Jerusalem stopped, and it ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jeremiah 15: 5<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cWho will have pity on you, O Jerusalem,\u00a0or who will grieve for you?<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Who will turn aside\u00a0to ask about your welfare?<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>BROKEN CONFESSION\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nehemiah 1: 4-7<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As soon as I heard these words I\u00a0sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the\u00a0God of heaven.\u00a0<strong><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And I said, \u201cO\u00a0Lord\u00a0God of heaven,\u00a0the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments,\u00a0<strong><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>let your ear be attentive and your eyes open, to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for the people of Israel your servants,\u00a0confessing the sins of the people of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Even\u00a0I and my father&#8217;s house have sinned.\u00a0<strong><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>We have acted very corruptly against you and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, and the rules\u00a0that you commanded your servant Moses.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Psalm 51: 17<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The sacrifices of God are\u00a0a broken spirit;\u00a0\u00a0a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>BEAUTIFUL PROMISE\u00a0\u00a0 Nehemiah 1: 8-10<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Remember the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, \u201d\u02dcIf you are unfaithful,\u00a0I will scatter you among the peoples,\u00a0<strong><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>but if you return to me and keep my commandments and do them,\u00a0though your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there I will gather them and bring them\u00a0to the place that I have chosen, to make my name dwell there.\u201d\u2122\u00a0<strong><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>They are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power and by your strong hand.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Deuteronomy 30: 1-5<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cAnd\u00a0when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and\u00a0you call them to mind among all the nations where the\u00a0Lord\u00a0your God has driven you,\u00a0<strong><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>and\u00a0return to the\u00a0Lord\u00a0your God, you and your children, and obey his voice in all that I command you today, with all your heart and with all your soul,\u00a0<strong><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>then the\u00a0Lord\u00a0your God\u00a0will restore your fortunes and have mercy on you, and he will\u00a0gather you again from all the peoples where the\u00a0Lord\u00a0your God has scattered you.\u00a0<strong><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>If your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there the\u00a0Lord\u00a0your God will gather you, and from there he will take you.\u00a0<strong><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And the\u00a0Lord\u00a0your God will bring you into the land that your fathers possessed, that you may possess it.\u00a0And he will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 Chronicles 7: 12-14<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Then the\u00a0Lord\u00a0appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: \u201cI have heard your prayer\u00a0and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.\u00a0<strong><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people,\u00a0<strong><sup>14\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>if my people who are called by my name\u00a0humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>BOLD REQUEST\u00a0\u00a0 Nehemiah 1:11<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">O Lord,\u00a0let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants who delight to fear your name, and give success to your servant today, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.\u201d Now I was\u00a0cupbearer to the king.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Proverbs 21: 1<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The king&#8217;s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the\u00a0Lord;\u00a0he\u00a0turns it wherever he will.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon by Rev.
