Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/rec0602-115732.mp3\">rec0602-115732<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>&#8220;Letter to My Friend, Philemon&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Philemon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>PAUL SPEAKS WITH COURTESY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Philemon 1:1-3 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Paul, a prisoner for Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, <\/span><span class=\"ind\">To Philemon our beloved fellow worker<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and Apphia our sister and Archippus our fellow soldier, and the church in your house:<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Colossians 4:17 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And say to Archippus, \u201cSee that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord.\u201d <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>PAUL SPEAKS WITH COMMENDATION<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Philemon 1:4-7 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0because I hear of your love and of the faith that you have toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>PAUL SPEAKS OF CONSENT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Philemon 1:8-14 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Accordingly, though I am bold enough in Christ to command you to do what is required,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0yet for love\u201d\u2122s sake I prefer to appeal to you\u201d\u201dI, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner also for Christ Jesus\u201d\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I became in my imprisonment.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0(Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.)<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I am sending him back to you, sending my very heart.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I would have been glad to keep him with me, in order that he might serve me on your behalf during my imprisonment for the gospel,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0but I preferred to do nothing without your consent in order that your goodness might not be by compulsion but of your own accord. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>PAUL SPEAKS OF CHANGE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Philemon 1:15-16 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For this perhaps is why he was parted from you for a while, that you might have him back forever,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0no longer as a bondservant but more than a bondservant, as a beloved brother\u201d\u201despecially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.<\/p>\n<p><b>1 Corinthians 12:13 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body\u201d\u201dJews or Greeks, slaves or free\u201d\u201dand all were made to drink of one Spirit. <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Galatians 3:28 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.<\/p>\n<p><b>Colossians 3:11 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>PAUL SPEAKS WITH CONFIDENCE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Philemon 1:17-25 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So if you consider me your partner, receive him as you would receive me.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0If he has wronged you at all, or owes you anything, charge that to my account.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it\u201d\u201dto say nothing of your owing me even your own self.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Yes, brother, I want some benefit from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in Christ. <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0At the same time, prepare a guest room for me, for I am hoping that through your prayers I will be graciously given to you.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends greetings to you,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon by Rev.
