The world cannot receive him, because it isn”™t looking for him and doesn”™t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
25 I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. 26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative””that is, the Holy Spirit””he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. \u000b 27 “I am leaving you with a gift””peace of mind and heart. I didn”™t tell you earlier because I was going to be with you for a while longer. \u000bThe Work of the Holy Spirit\u000b 5 “But now I am going away to the One who sent me, and not one of you is asking where I am going. 6 Instead, you grieve because of what I”™ve told you. 7 But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don”™t, the Advocate won”™t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.
8 And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God”™s righteousness, and of the coming judgment. 9 The world”™s sin is that it refuses to believe in me. 10 Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. 11 Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged. 12 “There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can”™t bear it now.
13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He won’t draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said. He will honor me; he will take from me and deliver it to you. Everything the Father has is also mine. We don’t have to rely on the world’s guesses and opinions. There’s no capacity for them. They seem like so much silliness. Spirit can be known only by spirit””God’s Spirit and our spirits in open communion. Spiritually alive, we have access to everything God’s Spirit is doing, and can’t be judged by unspiritual critics.
Isaiah’s question, “Is there anyone around who knows God’s Spirit, anyone who knows what he is doing?” has been answered: Christ knows, and we have Christ’s Spirit.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (MSG)\u000b\u000bEvery part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another””showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.
