Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/rec0203-112359.mp3\">rec0203-112359<\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>&#8220;Give First to God&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Haggai <\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>(<\/strong><strong>selected verses)<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>TIME\u00a0 TO COMMIT<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<p><b>Haggai 1:1-8 (ESV) <\/b><br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> came by the hand of Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest: <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0\u201cThus says the LORD of hosts: These people say the time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.\u201d <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then the word of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0\u201cIs it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins? <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now, therefore, thus says the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> of hosts: Consider your ways. <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes. <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0\u201cThus says the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> of hosts: Consider your ways. <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that I may take pleasure in it and that I may be glorified, says the LORD.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b>Leviticus 26:18-20 (ESV) <\/b><br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And if in spite of this you will not listen to me, then I will discipline you again sevenfold for your sins, <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze. <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And your strength shall be spent in vain, for your land shall not yield its increase, and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit.<\/p>\r\n<p><b>2 Samuel 7:1-2 (ESV) <\/b><br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Now when the king lived in his house and the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies, <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0the king said to Nathan the prophet, \u201cSee now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells in a tent.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b>Haggai 1:12-15 (ESV) <\/b><br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> their God had sent him. And the people feared the LORD. <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then Haggai, the messenger of the LORD, spoke to the people with the LORD\u201d\u2122s message, \u201cI am with you, declares the LORD.\u201d <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and worked on the house of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> of hosts, their God, <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0on the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king. <\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>TIME TO CONTINUE<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<p><b>Haggai 2:1-5 (ESV) <\/b><br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0In the seventh month, on the twenty-first day of the month, the word of the LORD came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0\u201cSpeak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to all the remnant of the people, and say, <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0\u201d\u02dcWho is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Is it not as nothing in your eyes? <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work, for I am with you, declares the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> of hosts, <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0according to the covenant that I made with you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit remains in your midst. Fear not.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/h3>\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>TIME TO COMPARE<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<p><b>Haggai 2:15-19 (ESV) <\/b><br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now then, consider from this day onward. Before stone was placed upon stone in the temple of the LORD, <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0how did you fare? When one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were but ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw fifty measures, there were but twenty. <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I struck you and all the products of your toil with blight and with mildew and with hail, yet you did not turn to me, declares the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span>. <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day that the foundation of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span>\u201d\u2122s temple was laid, consider: <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Is the seed yet in the barn? Indeed, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have yielded nothing. But from this day on I will bless you.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Proverbs 3:9-10 (ESV) <\/b><br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Honor the LORD with your wealth <span class=\"poetry2\">and with the firstfruits of all your produce;<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0then your barns will be filled with plenty, <span class=\"poetry2\">and your vats will be bursting with wine.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b>Matthew 6:31-33 (ESV) <\/b><br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Therefore do not be anxious, saying, \u201d\u02dcWhat shall we eat?\u201d\u2122 or \u201d\u02dcWhat shall we drink?\u201d\u2122 or \u201d\u02dcWhat shall we wear?\u201d\u2122<\/span> <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.<\/span> <br \/><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">33 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon by Rev.
