Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/rec1125-112734.mp3\">rec1125-112734<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE GOSPEL OF MARK<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>&#8220;Wrong Thinking&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Mark 10: 1-31<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>ORIGINAL PLAN<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 10:1-12 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And he left there and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan, and crowds gathered to him again. And again, as was his custom, he taught them. <\/span><span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Pharisees came up and in order to test him asked, \u201cIs it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He answered them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhat did Moses command you?\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They said, \u201cMoses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cBecause of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">But from the beginning of creation, \u201d\u02dcGod made them male and female.\u201d\u2122<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201d\u02dcTherefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">and the two shall become one flesh.\u201d\u2122 So they are no longer two but one flesh.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Deuteronomy 24:1-4 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0\u201cWhen a man takes a wife and marries her, if then she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, and she departs out of his house,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and if she goes and becomes another man\u201d\u2122s wife,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and the latter man hates her and writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, or if the latter man dies, who took her to be his wife,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0then her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after she has been defiled, for that is an abomination before the LORD. And you shall not bring sin upon the land that the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> your God is giving you for an inheritance. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Matthew 19:9 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.\u201d<\/span> <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Malachi 2:13-15 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And this second thing you do. You cover the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span>\u201d\u2122s altar with tears, with weeping and groaning because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor from your hand.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But you say, \u201cWhy does he not?\u201d Because the LORD was witness between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth.<\/p>\n<p><b>1 Corinthians 7:15 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases the brother or sister is not enslaved. God has called you to peace.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>BLESSED CHILDREN<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 10:13-16 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cLet the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>LEAVING WORSE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 10:17-22 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, \u201cGood Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhy do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">You know the commandments: \u201d\u02dcDo not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.\u201d\u2122\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to him, \u201cTeacher, all these I have kept from my youth.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cYou lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>IMPOSSIBLE EFFORT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 10:23-27 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cHow difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cChildren, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God!<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they were exceedingly astonished, and said to him, \u201cThen who can be saved?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Jesus looked at them and said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWith man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SUBTRACTION PLUS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 10:28-31 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Peter began to say to him, \u201cSee, we have left everything and followed you.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Jesus said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cTruly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">But many who are first will be last, and the last first.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1 Corinthians 2:8-9 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But, as it is written, <span class=\"poetry1\">\u201cWhat no eye has seen, nor ear heard,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">nor the heart of man imagined,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">what God has prepared for those who love him\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon Series by Rev.
