Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/rec1028-112921.mp3\">rec1028-112921<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE GOSPEL OF MARK<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>&#8220;Truth Teacher&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Mark Chapter 7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE POWER OF PETTINESS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 7:1-8 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Now when the Pharisees gathered to him, with some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0they saw that some of his disciples ate with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0(For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands properly, holding to the tradition of the elders,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other traditions that they observe, such as the washing of cups and pots and copper vessels and dining couches.)<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, \u201cWhy do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWell did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201c\u201d\u02dcThis people honors me with their lips,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\"><span class=\"JesusWords\">but their heart is far from me;<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">in vain do they worship me,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\"><span class=\"JesusWords\">teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.\u201d\u2122<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"noindent\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Psalm 51:15-17 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0O Lord, open my lips, <span class=\"poetry2\">and my mouth will declare your praise.<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; <span class=\"poetry2\">you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; <span class=\"poetry2\">a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>CORRUPTING THE COMMANDMENT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 7:9-13 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cYou have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition!<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">For Moses said, \u201d\u02dcHonor your father and your mother\u201d\u2122; and, \u201d\u02dcWhoever reviles father or mother must surely die.\u201d\u2122<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">But you say, \u201d\u02dcIf a man tells his father or his mother, \u201cWhatever you would have gained from me is Corban\u201d\u201d\u2122 (that is, given to God)\u201d\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>INNER EVIL<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 7:14-15 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And he called the people to him again and said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cHear me, all of you, and understand:<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<b>Mark 7:17-23 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when he had entered the house and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cThen are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?\u201d<\/span> (Thus he declared all foods clean.)<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhat comes out of a person is what defiles him.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Jeremiah 17:9 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The heart is deceitful above all things, <span class=\"poetry2\">and desperately sick;<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">who can understand it?<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>BREAD BEYOND BOUNDARY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 7:24-30 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And from there he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered a house and did not want anyone to know, yet he could not be hidden.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But immediately a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit heard of him and came and fell down at his feet.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophoenician by birth. And she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to her, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cLet the children be fed first, for it is not right to take the children\u201d\u2122s bread and throw it to the dogs.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But she answered him, \u201cYes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children\u201d\u2122s crumbs.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to her, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cFor this statement you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And she went home and found the child lying in bed and the demon gone. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>WHEN DEAF IS DEFEATED<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 7:31-37 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Then he returned from the region of Tyre and went through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, and they begged him to lay his hand on him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">33 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and after spitting touched his tongue.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">34 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cEphphatha,\u201d<\/span> that is, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cBe opened.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">35 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">36 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus charged them to tell no one. But the more he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">37 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, \u201cHe has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Isaiah 35:5-6 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, <span class=\"poetry2\">and the ears of the deaf unstopped;<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0then shall the lame man leap like a deer, <span class=\"poetry2\">and the tongue of the mute sing for joy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon Series by Rev.
