Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/rec1021-112258.mp3\">rec1021-112258<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE GOSPEL OF MARK<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">&#8220;Understanding Jesus&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Mark 6: 1-13 &amp; 30-52<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>HOMETOWN UNWELCOME<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 6:1-6 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, \u201cWhere did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands?<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?\u201d And they took offense at him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cA prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went about among the villages teaching. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>JOURNEY OF DEPENDENCE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 6:7-13 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff\u201d\u201dno bread, no bag, no money in their belts\u201d\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>REST INTERRUPTED<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 6:30-34 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cCome away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.\u201d<\/span> For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they went away in the boat to a desolate place by themselves.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">33 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now many saw them going and recognized them, and they ran there on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">34 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>MIRACLE WITH MEAGER<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 6:35-44 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">35 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, \u201cThis is a desolate place, and the hour is now late.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">36 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Send them away to go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">37 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But he answered them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cYou give them something to eat.\u201d<\/span> And they said to him, \u201cShall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">38 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cHow many loaves do you have? Go and see.\u201d<\/span> And when they had found out, they said, \u201cFive, and two fish.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">39 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then he commanded them all to sit down in groups on the green grass.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">40 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So they sat down in groups, by hundreds and by fifties.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">41 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven and said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And he divided the two fish among them all.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">42 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they all ate and were satisfied.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">43 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">44 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>WITNESS ON THE WATER<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 6:45-52 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">45 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">46 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">47 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">48 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">49 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">50 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cTake heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">51 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">52 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Hebrews 7:23-25 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon Series by Rev.
