Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/rec1007-112124.mp3\">rec1007-112124<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE GOSPEL OF MARK<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>&#8220;Do You Have Ears?&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Mark 4:1-32<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>DIFFERENT DIRT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 4:1-9 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Again he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he was teaching them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them:<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cListen! Behold, a sower went out to sow.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cHe who has ears to hear, let him hear.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>PURPOSE OF THE PARABLES<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 4:10-12 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And when he was alone, those around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cTo you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">so that<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cthey may indeed see but not perceive,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\"><span class=\"JesusWords\">and may indeed hear but not understand,<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"JesusWords\">lest they should turn and be forgiven.\u201d<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1 Corinthians 2:12-14 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SOWER, SEED AND SOIL<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 4:13-20 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cDo you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">The sower sows the word.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown: when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that is sown in them.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And these are the ones sown on rocky ground: the ones who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately they fall away.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And others are the ones sown among thorns. They are those who hear the word,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>APPLY THE LIGHT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 4:21-25 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cIs a lamp brought in to be put under a basket, or under a bed, and not on a stand?<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">For nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cPay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE LIFE DYNAMIC<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 4:26-29 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">26 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And he said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cThe kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE BUSH THAT STARTED SMALL<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>Mark 4:30-32 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And he said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWith what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it?<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon Series by Rev.
