Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/rec0506-112142.mp3\">rec0506-112142<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>Standing for God in a Godless Culture<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>1 Kings 17: 8 &#8211; 18:15<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE JUG THAT WOULD NOT EMPTY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>1 Kings 17:8-16 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Then the word of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> came to him,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0\u201cArise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to feed you.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, \u201cBring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And as she was going to bring it, he called to her and said, \u201cBring me a morsel of bread in your hand.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And she said, \u201cAs the LORD your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Elijah said to her, \u201cDo not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For thus says the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span>, the God of Israel, \u201d\u02dcThe jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth.\u201d\u2122\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And she went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> that he spoke by Elijah. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE LIFE THAT WOUD NOT END<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>1 Kings 17:17-24 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0After this the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became ill. And his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And she said to Elijah, \u201cWhat have you against me, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance and to cause the death of my son!\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to her, \u201cGive me your son.\u201d And he took him from her arms and carried him up into the upper chamber where he lodged, and laid him on his own bed.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he cried to the LORD, \u201cO <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> my God, have you brought calamity even upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by killing her son?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to the LORD, \u201cO LORD my God, let this child\u201d\u2122s life come into him again.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And the LORD listened to the voice of Elijah. And the life of the child came into him again, and he revived.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper chamber into the house and delivered him to his mother. And Elijah said, \u201cSee, your son lives.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And the woman said to Elijah, \u201cNow I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE MEETING THAT WOULD NOT CHANGE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><b>1 Kings 18:1-15 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0After many days the word of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, \u201cGo, show yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain upon the earth.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. Now the famine was severe in Samaria.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, Obadiah took a hundred prophets and hid them by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water.)<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Ahab said to Obadiah, \u201cGo through the land to all the springs of water and to all the valleys. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, and not lose some of the animals.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So they divided the land between them to pass through it. Ahab went in one direction by himself, and Obadiah went in another direction by himself.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And as Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him. And Obadiah recognized him and fell on his face and said, \u201cIs it you, my lord Elijah?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he answered him, \u201cIt is I. Go, tell your lord, \u201d\u02dcBehold, Elijah is here.\u201d\u2122\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said, \u201cHow have I sinned, that you would give your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0As the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek you. And when they would say, \u201d\u02dcHe is not here,\u201d\u2122 he would take an oath of the kingdom or nation, that they had not found you.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And now you say, \u201d\u02dcGo, tell your lord, \u201cBehold, Elijah is here.\u201d\u201d\u2122<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And as soon as I have gone from you, the Spirit of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> will carry you I know not where. And so, when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, although I your servant have feared the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span> from my youth.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Has it not been told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">LORD<\/span>, how I hid a hundred men of the LORD\u201d\u2122s prophets by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water?<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And now you say, \u201d\u02dcGo, tell your lord, \u201cBehold, Elijah is here\u201d\u201d\u2122; and he will kill me.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Elijah said, \u201cAs the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Habakkuk 2:18-20 (ESV) <\/b><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0\u201cWhat profit is an idol <span class=\"poetry2\">when its maker has shaped it,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">a metal image, a teacher of lies?<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">For its maker trusts in his own creation<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">when he makes speechless idols!<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Woe to him who says to a wooden thing, Awake; <span class=\"poetry2\">to a silent stone, Arise!<\/span> Can this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, <span class=\"poetry2\">and there is no breath at all in it.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But the LORD is in his holy temple; <span class=\"poetry2\">let all the earth keep silence before him.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon Series by Rev.
