REGRESSION BY RITUALS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Galatians 4:8-11 (ESV)
\n<\/strong>8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods.
\n9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more?
\n10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0You observe days and months and seasons and years!
\n11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I am afraid I may have labored over you in vain. <\/span><\/p>\n

Colossians 2:16-17 (ESV)
\n<\/strong>16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.
\n17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. <\/span><\/p>\n

WELCOMED IN WEAKNESS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Galatians 4:12-16 (ESV)
\n<\/strong>12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Brothers, I entreat you, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong.
\n13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0You know it was because of a bodily ailment that I preached the gospel to you at first,
\n14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not scorn or despise me, but received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus.
\n15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0What then has become of your blessedness? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have gouged out your eyes and given them to me.
\n16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth?<\/p>\n

ERROR OF EGOTISTS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Galatians 4:17-20 (ESV)
\n<\/strong>17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They make much of you, but for no good purpose. They want to shut you out, that you may make much of them.
\n18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0It is always good to be made much of for a good purpose, and not only when I am present with you,
\n19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0my little children, for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you!
\n20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I wish I could be present with you now and change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.<\/p>\n

CONTRASTS IN COVENANTS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Galatians 4:21-31 (ESV)
\n<\/strong>21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law?
\n22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman.
\n23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise.
\n24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar.
\n25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.
\n26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.
\n27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For it is written, \u201cRejoice, O barren one who does not bear;<\/span> break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor!<\/span> For the children of the desolate one will be more<\/span> than those of the one who has a husband.\u201d<\/span>
\n28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise.
\n29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now.
\n30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But what does the Scripture say? \u201cCast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.\u201d
\n31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

STANDING AGAINST SLAVERY<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Galatians 5:1-6 (ESV)
\n<\/strong>1 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. <\/span>
\n2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you.
\n3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law.
\n4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.
\n5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness.
\n6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

CONVICTION OVER CONFUSION<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Galatians 5:7-12 (ESV)
\n<\/strong>7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?
\n8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0This persuasion is not from him who calls you.
\n9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0A little leaven leavens the whole lump.
\n10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view, and the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is.
\n11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.
\n12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves!<\/p>\n

Salvation is by Grace Alone<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n
