Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/rec1022-1125492a.mp3\">rec1022-1125492a<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>THE FIRST PERSECUTION<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Message\u00a01: The Name Beyond Names<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Acts 3 &#8211; 4:4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>MIRACLE BY THE NAME<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Acts 3:1-10 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, \u201cLook at us.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But Peter said, \u201cI have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And leaping up he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And all the people saw him walking and praising God,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Isaiah 35:5-6 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, <span class=\"poetry2\">and the ears of the deaf unstopped;<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0then shall the lame man leap like a deer, <span class=\"poetry2\">and the tongue of the mute sing for joy.<\/span> For waters break forth in the wilderness, <span class=\"poetry2\">and streams in the desert;<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>MESSAGE OF THE NAME<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Acts 3:11-16 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">11 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon\u201d\u2122s.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: \u201cMen of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk?<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And his name\u201d\u201dby faith in his name\u201d\u201dhas made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><br \/>\nMAJESTY IN THE NAME<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Acts 3:17-26 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0\u201cAnd now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Moses said, \u201d\u02dcThe Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You shall listen to him in whatever he tells you.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people.\u201d\u2122<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also proclaimed these days.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, \u201d\u02dcAnd in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.\u201d\u2122<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Acts 20:20-21 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 1:16 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">16 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>MATTER REGARDING THE NAME<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Acts 4:1-4 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But many of those who had heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon by Rev.
