John 15:4-9<\/strong><\/p>\n

John 15:4-9 (ESV)<\/strong>
\n4 \u00a0Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
\n5 \u00a0I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
\n6 \u00a0If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.
\n7 \u00a0If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
\n8 \u00a0By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
\n9 \u00a0As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.<\/p>\n

CONTRAST OF LIVING\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\n18 \u00a0For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

\n<\/span>CONSEQUENCE OF EMPTINESS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

6 \u00a0If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.<\/p>\n

Ezekiel 15:1-5 (ESV)
\n<\/strong>1 \u00a0And the word of the LORD came to me:
\n2 \u00a0\u201cSon of man, how does the wood of the vine surpass any wood, the vine branch that is among the trees of the forest?
\n3 \u00a0Is wood taken from it to make anything? Do people take a peg from it to hang any vessel on it?
\n4 \u00a0Behold, it is given to the fire for fuel. When the fire has consumed both ends of it, and the middle of it is charred, is it useful for anything?
\n5 \u00a0Behold, when it was whole, it was used for nothing. How much less, when the fire has consumed it and it is charred, can it ever be used for anything!<\/p>\n

Luke 8:14 (ESV)<\/strong>
\n14 \u00a0And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.<\/p>\n

1 John 2:19 (ESV)<\/strong>
\n19 \u00a0They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.<\/p>\n

2 John 1:9 (ESV)<\/strong>
\n9 \u00a0Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.<\/p>\n

CONFIDENCE OF PRAYER<\/strong><\/h3>\n

7 \u00a0If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.<\/p>\n

1 John 5:14-15 (ESV)<\/strong>
\n14 \u00a0And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
\n15 \u00a0And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.<\/p>\n

John 16:23-24 (ESV)<\/strong>
\n23 \u00a0In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
\n24 \u00a0Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.<\/p>\n
