So Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When he was about to enter Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, \u201cI know that you are a woman beautiful in appearance,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and when the Egyptians see you, they will say, \u201d\u02dcThis is his wife.\u201d\u2122 Then they will kill me, but they will let you live.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Say you are my sister, that it may go well with me because of you, and that my life may be spared for your sake.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when the princes of Pharaoh saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken into Pharaoh\u201d\u2122s house.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And for her sake he dealt well with Abram; and he had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>FURIOUS KING<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Genesis 12:17-20 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But the LORD afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram\u201d\u2122s wife.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So Pharaoh called Abram and said, \u201cWhat is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Why did you say, \u201d\u02dcShe is my sister,\u201d\u2122 so that I took her for my wife? Now then, here is your wife; take her, and go.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Pharaoh gave men orders concerning him, and they sent him away with his wife and all that he had.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>FIRST DEVOTON<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Genesis 13:1-4 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0So Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the Negeb. <\/span><span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he journeyed on from the Negeb as far as Bethel to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0to the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the LORD. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Isaiah 66:2 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0All these things my hand has made, <span class=\"poetry2\">and so all these things came to be,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry4\">declares the LORD.<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">But this is the one to whom I will look:<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">he who is humble and contrite in spirit<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">and trembles at my word.<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>FIGHTING HERDSMAN<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Genesis 13:5-7 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0so that the land could not support both of them dwelling together; for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram\u201d\u2122s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot\u201d\u2122s livestock. At that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites were dwelling in the land.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>FAVORED DIRECTION<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Genesis 13:8-13 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then Abram said to Lot, \u201cLet there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are kinsmen.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the LORD.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\"><strong>Psalm 1:1 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"poetry1\">\u00a0Blessed is the man<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">nor stands in the way of sinners,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">nor sits in the seat of scoffers;<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>FUTURE PROMISE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Genesis 13:14-18 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, \u201cLift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the LORD.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>FIVE POINTS:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>1. Problems will come in a believer&#8217;s life.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>2. Pray for guidance.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>3. Humility is the path of power.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>4. Trust God&#8217;s Word even when life seems ridiculous.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>5. It&#8217;s never too late to go back to Bethel.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon by Rev.
