Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>4 Short stories which illustrate the Devil&#8217;s Tools<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>DECEIT- Challenges God&#8217;s Truth<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Genesis 3:1-6 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. <\/span><span class=\"ind\">He said to the woman, \u201cDid God actually say, \u201d\u02dcYou shall not eat of any tree in the garden\u201d\u2122?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And the woman said to the serpent, \u201cWe may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0but God said, \u201d\u02dcYou shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.\u201d\u2122\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But the serpent said to the woman, \u201cYou will not surely die.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>DISTRACTION- Challenges God&#8217;s Priorities<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Matthew 19:16-22 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">16 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And behold, a man came up to him, saying, \u201cTeacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhy do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He said to him, \u201cWhich ones?\u201d And Jesus said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cYou shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The young man said to him, \u201cAll these I have kept. What do I still lack?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Jesus said to him, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cIf you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>DISAPPOINTMENT- Challenges God&#8217;s Love<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>John 11:28-37 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">28 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, \u201cThe Teacher is here and is calling for you.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, \u201cLord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">33 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">34 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhere have you laid him?\u201d<\/span> They said to him, \u201cLord, come and see.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">35 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Jesus wept.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">36 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So the Jews said, \u201cSee how he loved him!\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">37 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But some of them said, \u201cCould not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>DELAY- Challenges God&#8217;s Timing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"ind\"><strong>Acts 24:22-27 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But Felix, having a rather accurate knowledge of the Way, put them off, saying, \u201cWhen Lysias the tribune comes down, I will decide your case.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then he gave orders to the centurion that he should be kept in custody but have some liberty, and that none of his friends should be prevented from attending to his needs.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, \u201cGo away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you.\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0At the same time he hoped that money would be given him by Paul. So he sent for him often and conversed with him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When two years had elapsed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. And desiring to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Corinthians 6:2 (ESV)\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For he says, <span class=\"poetry1\">\u201cIn a favorable time I listened to you,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">and in a day of salvation I have helped you.\u201d<\/span> Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>1 John 3:8b (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">8\u00a0<\/span><\/sup> The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sermon by Rev.
