Richard Jones<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/rec0416-112326.mp3\">rec0416-112326<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><u>Sonshine<\/u><u> at Sunset<\/u><\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Luke 24: 13-49<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Sadness Toward the Sunset<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Luke 24:13-24 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">13 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhat is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?\u201d<\/span> And they stood still, looking sad.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, \u201cAre you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhat things?\u201d<\/span> And they said to him, \u201cConcerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and when they did not find his body, they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Study of the Savior<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Luke 24:25-27 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cO foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isaiah 53:4-6 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Surely he has borne our griefs <span class=\"poetry2\">and carried our sorrows;<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\">yet we esteemed him stricken,<\/span> <span class=\"poetry2\">smitten by God, and afflicted.<\/span> <span class=\"poetry1\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But he was pierced for our transgressions; <span class=\"poetry2\">he was crushed for our iniquities;<\/span> upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, <span class=\"poetry2\">and with his wounds we are healed.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0All we like sheep have gone astray; <span class=\"poetry2\">we have turned\u201d\u201devery one\u201d\u201dto his own way;<\/span> and the LORD has laid on him <span class=\"poetry2\">the iniquity of us all.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Served by the Sovereign<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Luke 24:28-31 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So they drew near to the village to which they were going. He acted as if he were going farther,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0but they urged him strongly, saying, \u201cStay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent.\u201d So he went in to stay with them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Sharing the Surprise<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Luke 24:32-35 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They said to each other, \u201cDid not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">33 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">34 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0saying, \u201cThe Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">35 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Shock in the Servants<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Luke 24:36-43 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">36 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cPeace to you!\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">37 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">38 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhy are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">39 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">40 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">41 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cHave you anything here to eat?\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">42 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They gave him a piece of broiled fish,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">43 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and he took it and ate before them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Sermon on the Scriptures<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Luke 24:44-49 (ESV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">44 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then he said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cThese are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">45 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">46 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cThus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">47 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">48 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">You are witnesses of these things.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: small;\">49 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Message by Rev.
