Christmas is ultimately about a gift given.<\/em><\/h3>\n
\n<\/strong>6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.<\/p>\nI. There were three gifts given at Christmas<\/span><\/h3>\n
1. Liberty (Bondage to Freedom)<\/h3>\n
\n<\/strong>1 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h3>\n
2. Life (Death to Life)<\/h3>\n
\n<\/strong>4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
\n5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)<\/p>\n3. Love (Rejection to Relation)<\/h3>\n
\n<\/strong>8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
\n9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
\n10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be<\/i> the propitiation for our sins.<\/p>\nII. There are three purposes for giving these gifts at Christmas<\/span><\/h3>\n
1. To bring God to man<\/h3>\n
\n<\/strong>20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
\n21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
\n22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
\n23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.<\/p>\n2. To bring man to god<\/h3>\n
\n<\/strong>19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For it pleased the Father<\/i> that in him should all fulness dwell;
\n20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say<\/i>, whether they be<\/i> things in earth, or things in heaven.
\n21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your<\/i> mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
\n22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
\n <\/p>\n3. To bring God and man to the world<\/h3>\n
\n18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.<\/span>
\n19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:<\/span>
\n20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even<\/i> unto the end of the world.<\/span> Amen.<\/p>\n
