Our &#8220;Inward&#8221; Attitudes&#8230;Matthew 5:3-6<\/h3>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Blessed are the<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <em>poor <\/em>in spirit<\/span>, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;Poor in spirit&#8221; is our <em><strong>attitude of humility<\/strong><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>toward God<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 &#8220;Poor in spirit&#8221; means we are <strong><em>spiritually destitute.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Luke 18:9-14 (NASB)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt:<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\"><span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: &#8216;God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8216;I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.&#8217;<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\"><span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, &#8216;God, be merciful to me, the sinner!&#8217;<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\"><span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.&#8221;<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Blessed are those who <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">mourn<\/span><\/em>, for they shall be comforted.<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Mourning\u00a0should be our<em><strong> attitude\u00a0of<\/strong><\/em><em>\u00a0<strong>sorrow\u00a0for our sin.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ind\"><span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Blessed are the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>meek<\/em><\/span>, for they shall inherit the earth.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Meekness is <em><strong>our<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<em><strong>attitude of<\/strong> <strong>waiting for God&#8217;s mercy.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ind\"><span class=\"ind\"> <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Blessed are those who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>hunger and thirst<\/em> <\/span>for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Hungering and thirsting is<em> <strong>o<\/strong><strong>ur attitude<\/strong><strong> of asking for God&#8217;s righteousness to move in our hearts and lives for salvation, for everyday living, and for justice.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">II. Our &#8220;Outward&#8221; Actions&#8230;Matthew 5:7-12<\/h3>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Blessed are the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>merciful<\/em><\/span>, for they shall receive mercy.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This is our\u00a0<em><strong>action of forgiveness toward others.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Ephesians 4:32 (NASB) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">How do we forgive?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">-privately<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">-publically<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">-always personally<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Blessed are the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>pure<\/em><\/span> in heart, for they shall see God.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This is our <em><strong>action of holiness before God and others<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>James 1:19-27 (NASB)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<i>This<\/i> you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak <i>and<\/i> slow to anger;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and <i>all<\/i> that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for <i>once<\/i> he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the <i>law<\/i> of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does. <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his <i>own<\/i> heart, this man&#8217;s religion is worthless.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of <i>our<\/i> God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, <i>and<\/i> to keep oneself unstained by the world. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ind\"> <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"JesusWords\"><strong>Blessed are the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>peacemakers<\/em><\/span>, for they shall be called sons of God<\/strong>.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This is\u00a0our<em><strong> action of being a soul winner (peacemaker).<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (NASB)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now all <i>these<\/i> things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ind\"><span class=\"ind\"><span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Blessed are those who have been <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>persecuted<\/em><\/span> for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.<\/span> <\/strong><span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.<\/span> <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great;
