The Character Of Our Character<\/span><\/h3>\nMatthew 5:1-12<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\nMatthew 5:1-12 (NASB)
\n<\/strong>1 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him.
\n2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He opened His mouth and began<\/i> to teach them, saying,
\n3\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.<\/span>
\n4\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.<\/span>
\n5\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.<\/span>
\n6\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.<\/span>
\n7\u00a0 <\/span><\/sup>Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.<\/span>
\n8\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.<\/span>
\n9\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.<\/span>
\n10\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.<\/span>
\n11\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.<\/span>
\n12\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>

\n<\/strong>23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.<\/span>\u00a0
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\nThe Gospel of the Kingdom not only takes care of today but will also assist you for eternity.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\nBeatitudes means “the attitudes to be.”<\/em><\/h3>\n
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
I. Our “Inward” Attitudes…Matthew 5:3-6<\/h3>\n
\n3\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are the poor <\/em>in spirit<\/span>, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n“Poor in spirit” is our attitude of humility<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>toward God<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 “Poor in spirit” means we are spiritually destitute.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\nLuke 18:9-14 (NASB)
\n<\/strong>9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt:
\n10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.<\/span>
\n11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“<\/span>The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.<\/span>
\n12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0‘I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’<\/span>
\n13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“<\/span>But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’<\/span>
\n14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0“<\/span>I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
\n4\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are those who mourn<\/span><\/em>, for they shall be comforted.<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nMourning\u00a0should be our attitude\u00a0of<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0sorrow\u00a0for our sin.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
\n5\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are the meek<\/em><\/span>, for they shall inherit the earth.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Meekness is our<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0attitude of<\/strong> waiting for God’s mercy.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
\n6\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are those who hunger and thirst<\/em> <\/span>for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\nHungering and thirsting is o<\/strong>ur attitude<\/strong> of asking for God’s righteousness to move in our hearts and lives for salvation, for everyday living, and for justice.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
II. Our “Outward” Actions…Matthew 5:7-12<\/h3>\n
\n7\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are the merciful<\/em><\/span>, for they shall receive mercy.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\nThis is our\u00a0action of forgiveness toward others.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\nEphesians 4:32 (NASB) <\/strong>
\n32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.<\/p>\nHow do we forgive?<\/p>\n
-privately<\/p>\n
-publically<\/p>\n
-always personally<\/p>\n
\n8\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are the pure<\/em><\/span> in heart, for they shall see God.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nThis is our action of holiness before God and others<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\nJames 1:19-27 (NASB)
\n<\/strong>19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0This<\/i> you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and<\/i> slow to anger;
\n20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.
\n21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all<\/i> that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.
\n22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
\n23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;
\n24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for once<\/i> he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.
\n25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law<\/i> of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.
\n26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own<\/i> heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
\n27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our<\/i> God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and<\/i> to keep oneself unstained by the world. <\/span><\/p>\n
\n9\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<\/strong>Blessed are the peacemakers<\/em><\/span>, for they shall be called sons of God<\/strong>.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\nThis is\u00a0our action of being a soul winner (peacemaker).<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (NASB)
\n<\/strong>18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Now all these<\/i> things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,
\n19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
\n20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. <\/span><\/p>\n
\n10\u00a0<\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Blessed are those who have been persecuted<\/em><\/span> for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.<\/span> <\/strong>
