All along He was building His heavenly kingdom.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Jesus was crucified on the cross and buried in a borrowed tomb.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Jesus was raised from the dead and seen by hundreds, authenticating who He was.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Jesus returned to the glory of Heaven after instructing His followers.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Acts 1:9-26 (NASB)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They also said, &#8220;Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day&#8217;s journey away.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When they had entered <i>the city,<\/i> they went up to the upper room where they were staying; that is, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James <i>the son<\/i> of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas <i>the<\/i> <i>son<\/i> of James.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with <i>the<\/i> women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0At this time Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty persons was there together), and said,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;Brethren, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>For he was counted among us and received his share in this ministry.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0(Now this man acquired a field with the price of his wickedness, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And it became known to all who were living in Jerusalem; so that in their own language that field was called Hakeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0&#8220;For it is written in the book of Psalms, <span class=\"poetry1\">&#8216;LET HIS HOMESTEAD BE MADE DESOLATE, <\/span><span class=\"poetry1\">AND LET NO ONE DWELL IN IT&#8217;; <\/span><span class=\"poetry1\">and, <\/span><span class=\"poetry1\">&#8216;LET ANOTHER MAN TAKE HIS OFFICE.&#8217;<\/span> <span class=\"noindent\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>Therefore it is necessary that of the men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us\u201d\u201d<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0beginning with the baptism of John until the day that He was taken up from us\u201d\u201done of these <i>must<\/i> become a witness with us of His resurrection.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0So they put forward two men, Joseph called Barsabbas (who was also called Justus), and Matthias.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they prayed and said, &#8220;You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two You have chosen<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0to occupy this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they drew lots for them, and the lot fell to Matthias; and he was added to the eleven apostles. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Question: &#8220;What did the followers of Christ do the day after\u00a0His resurrection?&#8221; (Historically)<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>1. They returned to Jerusalem to begin a more intense effort of revealing the resurrected Lord.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Acts 1:12 (NASB)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day&#8217;s journey away.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Acts 1:8 (NASB)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Matthew 28:7-8, 18-20\u00a0(NASB) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.&#8221; <strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples.\u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, <span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\"><span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark 16:7-8 (NASB)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>But go, tell His disciples and Peter, &#8216;He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.'&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had gripped them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luke 24:9, 13-33 (NASB)<\/strong><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they were talking with each other about all these things which had taken place.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and <i>began<\/i> traveling with them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And He said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?&#8221;<\/span> And they stood still, looking sad.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0One <i>of them,<\/i> named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, &#8220;Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And He said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;What things?&#8221;<\/span> And they said to Him, &#8220;The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>But also some women among us amazed us. When they were at the tomb early in the morning,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him they did not see.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And He said to them, <span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">26 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\"><span class=\"versemode\">&#8220;<\/span>Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?&#8221;<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">27 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they approached the village where they were going, and He acted as though He were going farther.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But they urged Him, saying, &#8220;Stay with us, for it is <i>getting<\/i> toward evening, and the day is now nearly over.&#8221; So He went in to stay with them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0When He had reclined <i>at the table<\/i> with them, He took the bread and blessed <i>it,<\/i> and breaking <i>it,<\/i> He <i>began<\/i> giving <i>it<\/i> to them.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">31 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight.<\/span><\/span><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">32 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0They said to one another, &#8220;Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">33 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven and those who were with them,<\/p>\n<p><strong>John 20:17-18 (NASB)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Jesus said to her, <span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, &#8216;I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.'&#8221;<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples, &#8220;I have seen the Lord,&#8221; and <i>that<\/i> He had said these things to her.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>2. Return to our place(s) with a greater sense of urgency expressing our Savior to others.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">2.
