In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade&#8211;kept in heaven for you,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0who through faith are shielded by God&#8217;s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0These have come so that your faith&#8211;of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire&#8211;may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>I.\u00a0 <u>The gift of God is salvation!<\/u> (v. 3 \u201d\u201c 5)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>1 Peter 1:3-5 (NIV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! God has given us a <em><u>LIVING HOPE<\/u><\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 4:18-25 (NIV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, &#8220;So shall your offspring be.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead&#8211;since he was about a hundred years old&#8211;and that Sarah&#8217;s womb was also dead.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0This is why &#8220;it was credited to him as righteousness.&#8221;<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0The words &#8220;it was credited to him&#8221; were written not for him alone,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness&#8211;for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">25 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 c. God has given us an <em><u>INHERITANCE<\/u><\/em>.<\/strong><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 d. God\u201d\u2122s power is <em><u>PROTECTING<\/u><\/em> our salvation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>John 10:28-30 (NIV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">28 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">29 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father&#8217;s hand.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">30 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">I and the Father are one.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>II.\u00a0 <u>Our faith in God will be tested!<\/u> (v. 6 \u201d\u201c 7)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>1 Peter 1:6-7 (NIV) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0These have come so that your faith&#8211;of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire&#8211;may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 a. We should <em><u>GREATLY<\/u><\/em> <em><u> REJOICE<\/u><\/em> because of our <em><u>TRIALS<\/u><\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>John 9:3 (NIV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;Neither this man nor his parents sinned,&#8221;<\/span> said Jesus, <span class=\"JesusWords\">&#8220;but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.<\/span><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 b. Our faith is tested to determine if it is <em><u>GENUINE<\/u><\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 4:16-25 (NIV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham&#8217;s offspring&#8211;not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. Our trials should bring <em><u>PRAISE<\/u><\/em>, <em><u>HONOR<\/u><\/em>, and <em><u>GLORY<\/u><\/em> to Jesus Christ.<\/strong><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><br \/>\nIII.\u00a0 The goal of our faith is <em><u>SALVATION<\/u><\/em>. (v. 8 \u201d\u201c 9)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>1 Peter 1:8-9 (NIV) <\/strong><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">9 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 a. We have not <em><u>SEEN<\/u><\/em> Him: But we <em><u>LOVE<\/u><\/em> Him.<\/strong><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 b. Because we <em><u>BELIEVE<\/u><\/em> in Him: We rejoice with <\/strong><em><u><strong>JOY INEXPRESSIBLE.<\/strong> <\/u><\/em><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 c. The goal of our faith is <em><u>THE SALVATION<\/u><\/em> of our <em><u>SOULS.<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ephesians 2:4-8 (NIV)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions&#8211;it is by grace you have been saved.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">6 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.<br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">8 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith&#8211;and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Message by Gary Jarnagin rec1025-113029 1 Peter 1:3-9 Are you praising God today for your salvation? 1 Peter 1:3-9 (NIV) 3 \u00a0Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
