{"id":1893,"date":"2015-07-12T15:31:19","date_gmt":"2015-07-12T19:31:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/?p=1893"},"modified":"2015-07-12T15:31:19","modified_gmt":"2015-07-12T19:31:19","slug":"confronting-our-enemy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/?p=1893","title":{"rendered":"Confronting Our Enemy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Message by Dr. David Drake<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/rec0712-113711.mp3\">rec0712-113711<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ind\"><strong>2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NASB)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. <sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, <sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, <sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, <sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">5 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p><b>Ephesians 6:10-12 (NASB) <\/b><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">10 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.<br \/>\n<\/span>11 \u00a0Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 \u00a0For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual <i>forces<\/i> of wickedness in the heavenly <i>places.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Who Is Our Enemy?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>He is not a physical foe<\/strong> &#8230; Vs. 12a For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,<\/p>\n<p><strong>He is a spiritual adversary<\/strong> &#8230; Vs. 12b but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (NASB)<br \/>\n<\/strong> <sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. <sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. <sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Four\u00a0terms used to describe our enemy:<\/u> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Principalities (Rulers)\u00a0= Highest Powers<\/p>\n<p>2. Powers = All Powers<\/p>\n<p>3. Darkness = Rulers of Darkness<\/p>\n<p>4. Spiritual Forces = spirits of Wickedness<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Why Must We Deal With Our Enemy?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>He has come to DECEIVE us.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Genesis <\/b><b>3:1,4-5 (NASB) <\/b><\/p>\n<p>1 \u00a0Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, &#8220;Indeed, has God said, &#8216;You shall not eat from any tree of the garden&#8217;?&#8221; 4 \u00a0The serpent said to the woman, &#8220;You surely will not die! 5 \u00a0&#8220;For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>John 8:44 (NASB)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>44 \u00a0&#8220;You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>He has come to DEFEAT us.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Matthew <\/b><b>4:1-11 (NASB) <\/b><\/p>\n<p>1 \u00a0Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 \u00a0And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. 3 \u00a0And the tempter came and said to Him, &#8220;If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.&#8221; 4 \u00a0But He answered and said, &#8220;It is written, &#8216;MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'&#8221; 5 \u00a0Then the devil *took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 \u00a0and *said to Him, &#8220;If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, &#8216;HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU&#8217;; and &#8216;ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.'&#8221; 7 \u00a0Jesus said to him, &#8220;On the other hand, it is written, &#8216;YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.&#8217;\u201c\u00a08 \u00a0Again, the devil *took Him to a very high mountain and *showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; 9 \u00a0and he said to Him, &#8220;All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.&#8221; 10 \u00a0Then Jesus *said to him, &#8220;Go, Satan! For it is written, &#8216;YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'&#8221; 11 \u00a0Then the devil *left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>He has come to DESTROY us.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>John 10:10a (NASB)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>10 \u00a0&#8220;The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>How Do We Deal With Our Enemy?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Gospel defeats the works of the devil.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Colossians 2:8-15\u00a0<\/strong> <strong>(NASB)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>8 \u00a0See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. 9 \u00a0For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10 \u00a0and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority; 11 \u00a0and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ;12 \u00a0having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 \u00a0When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 \u00a0having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 \u00a0When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Gospel destroys the works of the devil.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1 John 3:8 (NASB)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>8 \u00a0the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning.
