{"id":1751,"date":"2015-04-12T17:01:42","date_gmt":"2015-04-12T21:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/?p=1751"},"modified":"2015-04-12T17:01:42","modified_gmt":"2015-04-12T21:01:42","slug":"how-to-draw-closer-to-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/?p=1751","title":{"rendered":"How to Draw Closer to God"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Message by Trey Hall<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadchristianfellowship.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/rec0412-113059.mp3\">rec0412-113059<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"ind\"><span class=\"ind\"><span class=\"ind\"><span class=\"ind\"><span class=\"ind\"><strong>Luke 15:11-24 (NLT)<br \/>\n<\/strong><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">11 <\/span><\/sup><span class=\"ind\">\u00a0To illustrate the point further, Jesus told them this story: <span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cA man had two sons.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">12 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">The younger son told his father, \u201d\u02dcI want my share of your estate now before you die.\u201d\u2122 So his father agreed to divide his wealth between his sons.<\/span> <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">13 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cA few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">14 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">15 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">He persuaded a local farmer to hire him, and the man sent him into his fields to feed the pigs.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">16 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">The young man became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything.<\/span> <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">17 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cWhen he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, \u201d\u02dcAt home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger!<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">18 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">I will go home to my father and say, \u201cFather, I have sinned against both heaven and you,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">19 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.\u201d\u201d\u2122<\/span> <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">20 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cSo he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">21 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">His son said to him, \u201d\u02dcFather, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.<\/span><span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201d\u2122<\/span> <span class=\"ind\"><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">22 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">\u201cBut his father said to the servants, \u201d\u02dcQuick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet.<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast,<\/span><br \/>\n<sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">24 <\/span><\/sup>\u00a0<span class=\"JesusWords\">for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.\u201d\u2122 So the party began.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Draw Closer to God<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Step # 1\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Recognize and Be Angry<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p><strong>Jeremiah 29:13 (The Message)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>GOD: \u201cYou\u201d\u2122ll find me when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Draw Closer to God<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Step # 2\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Take Responsibility and Own It<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p><strong>Isaiah 59:2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour sins have separated you from your God, and have hidden his face from you\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isaiah 1:18 (NLT)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Lord says, \u201d\u02dcNo matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it.\u00a0\u00a0 I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow\u201d\u2122\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 Corinthians 13:5 (The Message)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTest yourself to make sure you\u201d\u2122re solid in the faith.\u00a0\u00a0 Don\u201d\u2122t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourself regular checkups.
